I thought we are the only nation who beg others for running the country.

India did not beg and doesn't do so today! This is part of a decades old protracted aid program of the British government to more than 50 countries which it had decided itself keeping certain parameters in view.

However, it is unfortunately Pakistan that cannot do without American aid - $20 billion since 9/11. What has Pakistan to show for it? Just look at the state of the economy. More than 50 million people have slipped below the poverty line. Growth rate? - 2.1%. And this from none other than Mohammad Zubai Khan, a former commerce minister who has worked for the IMF. The bottom line is that India doesn't beg. Now what would happen if America stops aiding Pakistan? They hate the Americans anyway. But who has the balls to ask them stop and get the hell out of Pakistan?

The present Pakistan government requested the opening of a bank account in Kuwait in the name of the prime minister for receiving donations for internally displaced people, says a US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks.

According to the cable sent in June 2009, Rashid Al-Hajri, counsellor of international affairs in Kuwait's foreign ministry, told a US official that the Pakistan embassy requested a bank account in the name of the prime minister to pool donations for displaced people, Geo News reported.

Al-Hijri expressed concern over possible corruption and asked why an account had to be opened in the name of the prime minister rather than in the name of the government or the embassy in Kuwait.

The cable also said the government had requested the opening of accounts in the name of the prime minister in other countries as well.

Well the thread is not about Pakistan. The background of stopping aid might be the indian prosperity, as they need some reason to stop that. The indian aid has been remained under suspicion of corruption that it is not receiving to the poor. There have been many scams like health secreaty of some state was charged for corruption of around 100 M pounds, the states Gandhi rural employment scheme was also under investigation, and many more like coal was being sold to some 'on paper' companies, plus lots more.
The crux is that now they are planning to stop the aid, if they have withdrawn on account of corruption that would have been offensive. Why they have been continuously giving aid to india? becuase they get back through trade more than the aid.
Well, talking about Pakistan, like few members were saying that we dont beg for aid, which country begs for aid, not even Pakistan. US is giving aid bcaz of its own interests. I know, india can survive without aid and might be in lesser problems as compared to Pakistan, even Pakistan can also survive without aid, as after nuclear blasts, pakistan faced sanctions but it survived. Our govt. will never ask US to stop the aid, as they have their personal interests, the corruption level in Pakistan is same as in India, so US will keep giving aid and our big bosses will keep taking it.

Britain owes India A LOT of compensation money. The British Empire was built thanks in large to the exploitation of Indians and India. Indian poverty today is all thanks to the British Empire. How dare they cut aid? They should quadruple the aid.

Atleast we are not begging . And why should we say no if they offer us ? We are still a poor but rapidly developing country and India( and Pakistan) is poor today for a large part due to British colonisation. If they offer we will take but if they dont we shall not beg for it like other country in our neighbourhood.

Actually you never know the govt . may ask the Brits to stop giving aid if there is too much noise from there .

perhaps because the dividing line between arrogance and self-respect is very fine ....and also because considering they looted us over 250 years , its time we are entitled to a bit back.

If they can, No Issue. After all they looted also in same way.

But We don't need it with current economy. Indeed, India gave several aids to many countries.

Also in next few years, Indian Economy will be bigger than any European countries like France, U.K., Germany, etc.
