Indian junk can be sold to Afghanistan and Mayanmar... for this you need transit aid from Pakistan & Bangladesh.
So you are taking Chinese Junk just because you have friendly border with them ? Junk is to be sold for poor countries and US,China pretty well know how to sell junk and to whom to sell . As PM said that aid is peanut in our development .

Before that you need to brush up your geography & current affairs.

India shares a 1643 km long border with Burma.

Indian goods reach Af one way or another.

UK would not be the UK it is today without the wealth it stole from India. India should deny the entire sum altogether because it's negligible anyways.

mate, u will make every Britisher to come to streets if that would had happened, Indian GDP accounted for 25-30% of world GDP before Britain conquered India, i think India & China were together contributing around 55-60% to world GDP at there peak, u can't imagine the total amount of money when inflation of around 200 years would be taken into consideration.

On topic: Just give us our Kohinoor back, to hell with the aid.

Bro I sometimes find it hard to believe how brits ruled the entire world. A tiny nation who was able to be the strongest superpower for 500 yrs and rule almost 70 nations. :cheesy:

We will not get out stuff back, but we will develop or nations to beat them in every field.

Not 70 nations they have invaded nine out of ten countries.

I LOVE that graph- really shows the positive correlation between India's GDP and the UK's and shows where the UK's wealth really comes from!

If this $hit happened today there'd be UN sanctions, War crimes tribunals and military interventions but instead because it happned almost 100 years ago and to brown skinned people-no one cares. And then they have the audacity to put the "GREAT" prefix in front of their name??!!

Actually, i wanted a discussion on Kohinoor diamond, can anyone clarify as to what is the position of British govt. on this, & why the hell is GOI silent on this issue, & why it is not DEMANDING to give it back to India.

To be fair in interntaionl diplomacy the general tone is very considered and reserved. For the GoI to demand it back would look very aggressive and to many immature. The issue of the diamond is hardly a pressing matter for the GoI.What needs to happen is a movement by the Indian public who call on the GoI to do so then they can address this with the UKG as they have a mandate from their people to. Otherwise it just looks unnecessary.

Britain to end aid to India in 2015: Minister

LONDON: Britain will stop all aid to India in 2015 and the assistance budget will be reduced by around £200 million ($320 million) until then, the international development minister said Friday.

Justine Greening said in a statement that after holding discussions with the Indian government earlier this week "we agreed that now is the time to move to a relationship focusing on skills-sharing rather than aid".

The decision by Britain, India's former colonial ruler, comes after controversy at home that London is paying money to a country that can fund its own space programme at a time when British taxpayers face harsh austerity.

Britain has previously defended its aid payments to India on the basis that tens of millions of Indians live in poverty.

"Having visited India I have seen first hand the tremendous progress being made. India is successfully developing and our own bilateral relationship has to keep up with 21st century India," Greening said.

"It's time to recognise India's changing place in the world.

"It is of course critical that we fulfil all the commitments we have already made and that we continue with those short-term projects already underway which are an important part of the UK and government of India's development programme."

The Department of International Development statement confirmed: "Justine Greening will not sign off any new programmes, and financial aid programmes to the country will end completely in 2015."

Actually, i find this quiet surprising that UK keeping an Indian diamond (of many many million dollars worth) & than give some money to India for social cause & has the boldness to call that money "aid". Kohinoor is just an example, actually UK has looted many many times more from India & even if it give the so called "aid" to India till the end of Earth, it will not be able to repay the amount.

British raj India is not the India of today.... Things like kohinoor would cause unnecessary spat between the countries in the Subcontinent....

I agree though trade is better than aid..... As for UK mere 70 years ago it was the global superpower..... After suez it was just a power..... The cold war turned it into a vessel state of America.... The European Union made it into second most powerful in Europe.... Current government made it a joke in Europe...

Britain is a power in decline and is just a European appendage of America living off past glories. It has neither economic or military sovereignity or global reach. India should concentrate on upcoming economic powerhouses rather than has-been nation irrespective of the colonial past.
