Ahmadiyya Muslim killed in apparent sectarian attack in Taunsa, Pakistan | Rabwah Times

An Ahmadi Muslim man has been shot dead by four attackers on a motorbike in the Taunsa, a city in the south of Punjab province of Pakistan. Taunsa is some 320 kilometres southwest of Lahore.

37 year old Ikramullah was in the pharmacy that he owned when four gunmen on motorbikes stormed the store and opened fire. Ikramullah was shot several times and one of the bullets went through his skull.

He left behind his wife, and their two children, ages 18 months and 5 years.

The shooting comes after Punjab's Muttahida Ulema Board (Council of Islamic Clerics) made the decision that literature against the persecuted Ahmadiyya Muslim Community does not fall under hate speech. The Muttehda Ulema Board (Council of Islamic Clerics) is part of Punjab's Provincial Government which is headed by Governor Rafique Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Ikramullah lived on the same street as the Ahmadiyya Mosque which was attacked by militants last month. The attackers were later caught by Police. Three of the attackers were eventually killed in a shootout after their accomplices tried to free them from Police custody.

Talking to BBC Urdu District Police Officer of Dera Gazi Khan Ghulam Mubashir Maken said:

Ikramullah had no personal enmity and neither did he have any questionable financial dealings, He was most probably targeted because he was a member of Qadiani (Ahmadiyya Muslim) community.

Following the incident Spokesperson of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Saleemuddin tweeted Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif regarding Muttahida Ulema Board's (Council of Islamic Clerics) decision to allow hate material against the persecuted Ahmadiyya Muslims.

If they are declared non muslims by constitution then it doesn't mean they can be killed like that. Ahmadis are not killing muslims, they are not stopping muslims to offer prayers or they are not even preeching their faith to others, then why did they kill this innocent guy like that. This is just insane. There are very few reasons of killing a person and this murder cannot be justified in any way. If he committed a crime then it was the state who was authorized to punish him or anybody, but this killing will become a burden on the shoulders of his killer all his life, Inshallah.

Mate in the same week religious fundamentilists killed a suuny muslim provincial interior minister and critically injured a sunni muslim member of parliment... GOD knows how many sunni muslims died in street crimes....
But this is sectarian...sure they are been prosecuted...
While thousands been dieing every year....this killing is different and must be mourned...

When the constitution is wrong or evil or an order given by a powerful person incorrect we have a duty to reject it and do everything in our power to eliminate it, in this case the constitution which is discriminatory to my Ahmedi brothers who have produced lions like Zafarullah Khan and Abdus Salam.

Jinnah called Zafarullah Khan his son and when mullahs demanded he declare zafarullah a kaffir, he resisted saying how can I call someone who calls himself a muslim non muslim. This was the resolve of our founding father and this was how much he believed in the ideal of secularism.

I don't understand the logic of declaring Ahmedis infidel even though I am not an Ahmedi. By the logic of mullah cult ahmedis have added another prophet which justifies attacks against them. Going by this logic the Christians should be killing muslims for adding a prophet and jews should be killing both muslims and christians. This is clearly a canard made to oppress innocent Ahmedis.

I will stand by any law that promotes equality, but this is Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto type autocratic law, like him declaring he will break the legs of Bengalis that voted, look how that turned out. We need to unify, not divide. ASWJ and LEJ can go to hell. We should chase them down.
