Because 1947 did not worked out well for us. Before 1947, we did not anticipate that Punjabi-Pashtuns would try to dominate and exploit us just because they would inherit the big fat army. May be it was not possible to convince the British+Congress to set up two different Muslim countries(which nullify the two nation theory). In such a case, it was wise to peacefully separate in 1950s. It would have saved us from much bad blood and bitterness to come. Due to Pakistani rulers injustice, atrocity and denial, it became much harder for any self-respecting Bangladeshi to become genuinely friendly with Pakistan. Rightly and somewhat exaggeratedly, Pakistan is like a monstrous entity in the imagination of educated, influential, liberal, secular Bangladeshis.Wait..so why you guys dont celebrate 1947 then
