NEW DELHI: India has dispatched two warships to the historical port town of Mongla in Bangladesh to commemorate the ongoing “Swarnim Vijay Varsh”, the 50thanniversary celebrations of the 1971 War of Liberation, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka later this month.

The warships, corvette INS Kulish and patrol vessel INS Sumedha, will make the port call at Mongla from March 8 to 10. During a visit to Dhaka last week, external affairs minister
S Jaishankar had described Bangladesh as a “key neighbour and valued partner” in the Indo-Pacific region, stressing that the ties between the two countries “transcend even our strategic partnership”.

“This is the first-ever visit of Indian warships to Mongla. The visit, while reaffirming the
Indian Navy’s solidarity and partnership with the Bangladesh Navy, is aimed at paying homage to the Bangladeshi and Indian combatants as well as civilians who laid down their lives during the 1971 war,” said an officer.

`Force Alpha’, comprising Mukti Bahini's `muktijodhas’ and Indian Navy combatants, had stormed and wrested control of Mongla from the Pakistani forces in a daring operation during the 1971 war, he added.

India has steadily stepped-up military ties with Bangladesh, with their armed forces also regularly interacting through exercises, exchanges and visits. The two navies, for instance, had conducted a bilateral exercise called “Bongosagar” to enhance interoperability in the northern Bay of Bengal in October last year.

The exercise was followed by the third edition of their coordinated bilateral patrol, during which warships from the two countries undertook joint patrolling along the international maritime boundary line. IAF chief Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria, incidentally, had also visited Bangladesh last month.

Don't worry my dear Pakistanis brothers. It was hard for pakistan to defend Bangladesh. We did not had land route to supply weapons n food to our soldiers but still they fought very well. Delivery used to take months to reach there.on other side eastern border we always won againt india. Prime example is azad kasmir1948, 65 war or kargil War even 27 Feb.. They have sent these warships to bangle to blackmail them if you turn your back to us n move to china we will attack you. They been doing this bangali since 71. They call it friendship vist. They think world is idiot. Bangali hates india but their pm is smart women.

My dear brother , this is the exact thing I was trying to explain to your compatriots and to some of my compatriots , since ages.

But emotional people don't want to hear anything.

Their only aim is to all out attack against India.

Why we are supporting Hasina , why she is Indian stooge bla bla bla ... .

I always thought that Bangladeshi people are more emotional, but I found that lots of Pakistanis are more emotional than Bangladeshis!

And thankfully our prime minister is really smart woman and great at diplomacy.

She can wait till we grow up economically and then militarily.

In the end if India invade us , China isn't going to send troops to help us directly.

So if we need to counter a full fledge attack from India , we need huge logistics for military.

We are getting this , and we have a goal named , "Forces goal 2030" and it's only 2021 now.

However we aren't going to attack anyone ,but we will defend our country from any enemy.

We are still capable of defending ourselves against India .

But nowadays war can't be fought only with military , you need a very strong spy network to protect your country.

So I believe Bangladesh will focus on counter intelligence development alongside military and we need strong economy for this.

Once we will be balanced in both economically and Militarily , we don't have to rely on diplomacy only .

But not only our well wishers , but also some Mullah minded people of our own country always rant that why our Muslim army don't attack India .

Some Romantic citizen of Bangladesh even used to suggest to annex Arakan and establish independent Arakan. Although some of them changed their absurd point of view .

Believe me brother , these emotional Romantic citizens (arm chair generals) are the major problem for Bangladesh ( for any nation) .

Pakistani dont care what bengalis do
Nobody forced them to join pakistan in 1947
Everyone who can read map knows the an expeditionary force cannot win without a supply line
These were pakistani troops out numbered 1:10 with no supply line or air suport and no incentive to fight once bengalis choose their mastera..

These were troops not "avengers"or "iron man"

I AM glad they surrendered and came back home unharmed to fight again for their country rather then dying for traitors

Now had bengalis wanted to fight then that would have been a different story, they would have fought till death.

In reality , Pakistan of 1947 was not the present days Pakistan. Your country is just a part of Pakistan of 1947 like ours.

Bengalis were front liner to establish a country named Pakistan, even more than you.

So do not talk big only because your country name is Pakistan.

The real concept was emerged in Dhaka , so yes the Muslim country for the Muslims of this region was actually originated in this part.

But I will not argue further , but sometimes audacity of some people are really annoying.

If you don't know the history of your own origin, then why come to suggest others?

So the bottom line is , nobody forces Bengalis to join Pakistan dominion ,nor anybody forces you to be part of an United Muslim nation.

It happened mutually. But some of you are suffering from too much inferiority complex that you often neglect a nation that is actually the birth place of your country.

Yes Dhaka is the birthplace of a Muslim nation and that was Pakistan dominion ( not talking about present days Pakistan that is only a part of former Pakistan dominion) .

I agree to you. But you must read bbc diary..when mojeeb landed in India for help while he was flying to Bangladesh. It is heartbreaking.. he had betrayed whol Pakistani nation from both Pakistan.. our intelligence agencies got info that time reason why it was hard for Pakistani establishment to transfer pmship to him.. that day was cry day for united Muslim country Pakistan. So betrayal was hurting. Your this pm is doing same. She hates Pakistan. There is no question about it. But common Bangladeshi still love their Pakistani brothers.

.
I agree to you.

Thank you .
But common Bangladeshi still love their Pakistani brothers.

Indeed and, it will never going to be changed because of some hardliners/trouble makers of both side.

Common Pakistani and Bangladeshi will remain Muslim brothers forever ,so the brotherly love will never end inshallah.

And for the rest part of message , let's agree to disagree , as there is no way to know what really happened at past.

It's wise to move on from past days and focus on future.

Thanks and regards.

We did not 'join' Pakistan. We created Pakistan. Without Bengali's massive support for Muslim League, there is no way Jinnah could have made Pakistan into a reality. Now the late jumper on the Pakistan bandwagon are claiming the credit while those who pushed the bandwagon for all those years are sidelined ! What an irony.
I AM glad they surrendered and came back home unharmed to fight again for their country rather then dying for traitors
We also think it was a good karma for Pak army to surrender to their ' biggest' enemy and those tag-tag Bengali insurgents and set up a 'glorious' example for your future generations to emulate. Yeah, give thanks to God that they surrendered! and became useful to protect the real patriots Ayub-Yahia-Bhutto-Tikka-Niazi gong.

Wait..so why you guys dont celebrate 1947 then
Ofocurse without bengal help pakistan wouldnt be possible

As for karma..we thank you for rebelling during a war

Which brings me back to orginal question why are few bengalis here pretending to counter india when thats not even on the menu

India and bengaldesh are strategic allies
Those tag bengali militants neithet then nor now have spine to fight on equal footing
Then they conspired with 10 enemy larger

Now on knees to same india confused.... whether india is friend or enemy or frenemy

We atleast stood our ground and never backed down
IMO bengaldesh should have rejoined india and united bengal

We are a different culture with a different religion. We have the benefit of being ethnically and religiously homogenous (so indians can't try BLA stuff here ) . Yes we like our culture , but first and foremost we are Muslim and our faith in the Almighty shall never fade.
We don't like India's foreign policy and you (Pakistanis) of all ppl should know why.
PPl in this forum (some indians) like to think that BD invasion will be cakewalk. Maybe India Should deal With PRC and PK first before they start another front.
