AH-1W Super Cobras are in service for Turkish Army

In order to use in operations against the PKK, three AH-1W Super Cobra were bought. Now, those helicopters are in service to use against PKK terrorists.

PKK'ya karşı yapılan operasyonlarda kullanılmak üzere 27 Eylül'de getirilen üç AH-1W Super Cobra tipi helikopter kullanıma girdi.

Güneydoğu'da PKK 'ya karşı yapılan operasyonlarda aktif olarak kullanılan AH-1 Cobra filosuna geçen ay katılan üç helikopter için 114 milyon dolar ödendi.

Amerikan Hava Kuvvetleri'ne ait C-5 Galaxy tipi geniş gövdeli nakliye uçağı ile Ankara/Akıncı 4'üncü Ana Jet Üs Komutanlığı'na 27 Eylül'de getirilen üç AH-1W Super Cobra tipi helikopter kullanıma girdi.

Yedek parça ve yedek motor dahil toplam 114 milyon dolar ödenen üç helikopterin alımı için uzun süredir Türkiye ve ABD arasında görüşmeler yürütülüyordu. En son geçen yıl Amerikan Kongresi'nin onayına sunulan karar, 12 Kasım 2011'de onaylanmıştı.

Gri renkte teslim edilen helikopterler, Ankara Güvercinlik'te kamuflaj renklerine boyandı. Helikopter ler daha önceden Amerikan Deniz Piyadeleri tarafından kullanılıyordu.

Dude, your helicopter is right now undergoing tests which are very important for it to perform in the battle field. Allow it to evolve before serial production begins.

Till then your soldiers will need something ready to attack.

It is like we have ordered 180 of LCH attack helos and 76 Dhruv WSI helos, but until they are being tested, we have to make do with our Mi-35s and the AH-64s that were recently ordered.

Think strategicly, We have mainly old 60s Cobras which can fall out of the skies at any moment and the T-129 has still a way to go so this is just a quick solution for replacing the oldest Cobras...

Against terror all that matters is that super cobras have dual engine and fly at high and hot conditions, we only have a handful of these aircraft.
