Regardless, marine assets guarantee second strike capability.

So China does focus on the 3 dimensional nuclear arsenal such as land/sea/air just as other major nuclear powers like US and Russia.

Why did you call 5000km range missile an ICBM(Intercontinental Ballistic Missile)? because it can hit other continents?

Sorry, but China's 5000km underground great wall is a special case, it is designed to be extremely resilient against some overwhelming number of megaton busters, and do not think it is only comparable to the Iranian underground nuclear facility.

But we do have very robust sea deterrence for now, and we did test our JL-2A (up to 11000-13000km) back in December 2010. There were 6 missiles had been spontaneously fired from an underwater Type 094 SSBN.

It is already a proven SLBM with more than hundred of them being deployed.

Even JL-3 is now on the way to be deployed.
