After Biggest Drill in 30 Years, IAF Chief Indicates Readiness to Deal With Two-Front War

Two front war, two front war, two front war - why top Indian militarily generals keep parroting about it ? Tomorrow Indian PM is visiting China for better relationship so why so much worry among Indian army establishment about China-Pak joint action against India ? whom are they making fool of ? ofcourse ordinary Indian citizens so that Indian Army can extract more tax from them via defense budget

Not everything is set in stone or as black and white as pakistanis see it to be.

So what if our Defence Minister is going to China? Just because we have our issues doesn't mean we'll abandon diplomacy.

Maybe to pakistanis it seems like one cannot exist without the other but its not the 1800s, we are simply hoping for the best while preparing for the worst.

To pakistan a "friend" becomes someone you are dependent on while to us we only have interests, even with all the defence deals we are keeping US at an arms length same with Russia.

US was your trusted ally once but now they are a noose on your neck; while learning nothing you lot are giving the same treatment to China.

Things don't always remain the same.

Also, let's not talk about our defence budgets, pakistan's defence budget as a proportion to your gdp is more than that of India's, maybe you should question your military and ask them why they are eating up so much of the public money?

You didn't get my point do you since most of the latter part of your post is irrelevant to the point I was making to. You yourself just said that India is keen to have good diplomacy with China despite of having some issues so why keep blabbering two front war two front war ..why your Army chief is making such statements in public all the time ? I hardly see any Indian politician talking about this scenario in public since your politicians only obsession is towards Pakistan. Indian Army establishment clearly want to signal West that hey we are indeed rivals for Chinese growing Army capabilities, please consider us as your main ally against them.

If things are gonna go nuclear, why will they interfere and risk attacks on their own cities?

There are 9 squadrons of MKI deployed against PAF. 1 in South India and 4 in Northeast India. And those other 5 squadrons can also be deployed against Pakistan during wartime due to their range.

The Su-30s do not do escort, that's the job of the Mig-21s and then the LCAs in the near future. The Su-30s do top cover, fighter sweep etc in such missions.

This is all pretty generic and both sides have it. The only difference is Indian equipment is now qualitatively and quantitatively ahead.

If the Chinese try anything in Doklam, they will get annihilated in that region. We have far too many troops there.

They do not hold a major advantage in any region on the Indian border.

9 squadrons deployed against us? this is too much.how many jets in each squadron? yeah i know migs will provide cover.you have your calculation,we have our calculation.we will never go nuclear.if india wants conventional,we will stick to it.no nuclear showdown.i still feel that china is dangerous for india.yeah i saw pictures of su-30s at ambala air base.they are deployed near border.may the best pilot wins.

Chinese air force has increased deployment in Tibet: IAF chief
Special Correspondent

Updated: April 27, 2018 00:33 IST

Hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to land in China in an attempt to reset ties with the communist neighbour, the Indian Air Force chief said the Chinese air force had significantly increased its deployment in Tibet across the border from India.

Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa said he had told his Chinese counterpart that they should frequently meet on the ground so that they don’t need to “meet in the air”.

Speaking at a think tank event, Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa said, “There has been a significant increase in deployment of Chinese fighters and aircrew in Tibet from other military regions.”

He said India needed to plan as per the capabilities of the adversary.

He also cautioned that Pakistan would continue to back terror attacks, and that such strikes could have unintended consequences and lead to escalation.

Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa said Pakistan Army “cannot afford peace” because then “they cannot send their children to Ivy League colleges.” He said Pakistan Army will keep Kashmir boiling but will not let it boil out.

In 2001, when India threatened to bomb them to stone age during Operation Parakram, Pakistan had a change of behaviour, he pointed out. “We have the capability to wage a short-term war tomorrow,” he said.

Why shouldn't he?
A vocal general is standard for many strong countries out there.
Also, your pov of Indian politics is really myopic, our politicians do talk about China as well as pakistan, its just that you lot concentrate on the pakistan bit almost all the time.

Also, in some cases diplomacy and military become 2 separate issues, we have learned from the past that diplomacy in itself isn't enough to deter china, they require a firm hand as well.

Increasing troop morale is good for the jawans but let's be realistic here.

Media and its carry-away tell-tale sensationalism is really doing more damage to the IAF than Pakistan and China combined.

IAF doesn't have jets to fight a two-front war.

Bureaucrats may not have the guts to admit it but they are the reason for this. Negotiations endlessly without pursuing anything is dangerous and has led India to this situation. IAF needs to start putting its foot down before it becomes fighter-less at the current rate.

We need at least 400 new fighters of light and medium category before we can so much as think of a two-front war.

According to a drill conducted on papers in 1965, India neutralized all Pakistani assets, moved into Lahore and danced in Lahore Gymkhana..

According to the actual situation that followed, Indians were handed their ar$es and some of the highest ranking officers had to leave their jeeps on war front.. which is still at display in one of our facilities..

Can someone tell Indians that when you do exercise, you have the following:

1 - No fear of enemy hitting you from an undisclosed location
2 - No air defence
3 - No pre-emptive strikes from enemy
4 - A lot of confidence to complete a task and then eat a veggie pizza
5 - An opportunity to go back home after completing the stated tasks and meet your wife wile thumping your chest..

In a real war, something can hit you anytime from your behind, so you have to be very very careful.. this diminishes confidence that is shown in the exercises..

In a real war, 50% of the times (and even more if the enemy is PAF) the enemy attacks you at a time and place of its own choosing..

In a real war, casualties of war can be only traded... not collected by sending some troops in the hostile area.. otherwise those may be roasted along with their predecessors.

There are a lot of things I want to mention here, but after reading the chutiya remarks of Indians, I can assure all of them, GHUSS KAY PHAT JAEYGI PAF..

According to multiple exercises which led to the above exercise, you lot were in Delhi by GrandSlamming and captured Kashmir by deploying your own jawan on Kargil.

Of course, in reality you chaps got PantSlammed by ending up defending Lahore and then had to lie and refuse taking the bodies of your own dead soldiers. So much for your exercises. Say, did you guys also run exercises just before 1971? Or was it a dry run for Kargil, where again you chaps ran to the US President to save your behinds?

You are being "un-Indian" for trying to be realistic. :enjoy:
