Afghanistan Beat Pakistan In Asian Games Cricket Semi-Final

its not shocking..... we didn't even send our Pakistan A team to play this tournament

and look at our rivals... India didn't even bother to send a team there? Sri Lanka? they too sent a weaker team and so did other nations

Obviously if we had sent a National level team we would have won the match.... but thats not a case here (not sure if Afghanistan too sent a weaker team or their normal team)

Sir this is no excuse, Lets accept it like good sportsmen the we lost and they won. They were better team on the day. Pakistan, India and Srilanka have so many players that their second teams are also very good.

.
oh I forgot to congratulate Afghanistan in my last post

Congrats to Afghanistan and Afghan brothers :D

Its always good to hear you winning any match or tournament.... All my good wishes with you and hope to see a very attacking and formidable team from this country

oh yeah, the captain of our team has also played at International level so yes... there would be good players but I am yet to see any name that I usually read from our domestic teams too

Yes Afghanistan won and congratulations to them .......... in fact I would be more happy if they had defeated our National team

Its always good to have more competitors and Afghanistan....I have special place for them

Congratulation to team Afghanistan thus far.

Well Bangladesh beat Srilanka so it will be Bangladesh vs Afghanistan. Good luck to Afghan brothers but may we win the gold........

Lanka lose to Bangladesh in cricket, meets Paks for bronnze

[November 25 2010]

Sri Lanka will have to wait until Friday afternoon whether its 143-membercontingent for the 16th Asian Games would return home empty handed withouta single medal or not. Sri Lanka lost its semi final match to Bangladeshby five wickets today and will now have to wait until today’s third placeplay-off match against Pakistan to know whether they would take home atleast a solitary bronze medal.

It was a giant killing performances in today’s semi finals as the twoteams which were fancied to figure in Friday’s final – Sri Lanka andPakistan, were both beaten by minnows Bangladesh and Afghanistanrespectively.

Returning to the ‘semis’ with a narrow two-wicket win over Nepal withseven balls to spare on the previous day in the quarter finals, Sri Lankanever looked comfortable against Bangladesh. The only thing that wentright for Sri Lanka was skipper Jehan Mebarak’s right call when tossing.

Sri Lanka will now meet Pakistan in Friday’s third place play-off todecide the bronze medallist. Pakistan too suffered a shock defeat at thehand of Afghanistan in the other semi final. Afghanistan proved that theirshock win over Hong Kong in the quarter finals was not a fluke, when theyknocked out the hot favourtites Pakistan by 22 runs in the first semifinal.

well I hope better performer wins!

But somewhere in my heart I would give a slight edge to Bangladesh as they are playing cricket since ages now but yet to win any major tournament. Go Bangladesh Go - win at least one gold medal in this tournament

You surely deserve it

You never know. May be Bangladesh become dilwala against Afghanistan like Pakistan did...

.
^ Even if Pakistan was being a dilwala they at least have won major tournaments already. :P

And indeed all the best to both teams, I am sure win or not Afghanistan will play a good match. :)
