Afghan Invaders and Waris Shah

I didnt make it up, the punjabi site is saying so. And i didnt say whole shiekhopura but a village.
Moreover old pathan population of punjab is dwindled. Forexample pathan colony of kasur, was strong and numerous enough to bring more than 30,000 pathan soldiers against ranjeet singh but todays kasur has no traces of pathans.

This does not make one bit of sense. What ever the site says is false. There is a reasons character of his love story are jats...

I doubt there was even one village in central punjab of pastun land lords...

This is the only reference i found,

History: This wanting world by Dr Manzur Ejaz

I am pretty sure if that was the case then one would find alot more about pashtun in his poetry then just Afghans invading. Heer is social commentary of that time.

Who cares what the cockroach thought and wrote, who the hell is Waris shah some drug crazed working class cockroach.

All losers cry Waris Shah is no different.

Don't insult Waris Shah. Its like insulting Kushal Khan Khattak.

Note his place of birth, jandiala sher khan (shiekhopura), had predominantly pashtun population and they were the land lords of the town. It seems he had developed resentments against his pashtun feudal lords from his childhood.

Waris Shah was punjabi sufi, for him every human being was equal.

Unlike Hindi speaking people of UP or Bihar, the punjabi speaking people of punjab never saw pashtuns superior to them and all the pashtuns that settled within cental punjab were just like any other foreign settlers (cental asians, arabs, persians, kashmiris, baloch) here without any special status. The dominant races in central punjab remained the same old tribes of Jatts, Gujjars, Arains and Rajputs etc. Kashmiris over the time did gain polticial and numerical strength as it was easier for rural kashmiris to settle in punjab due to not so much difference in social structures of the villages in both places.

Pashtuns were rulers of punjab. So they were not just simple migrants, they were given jagirs by delhi sultans in Punjab. Mughals snatched all jagirs from pashtun feudal lords, infact they destroyed entire pashtun settlement along east bank of indus. After mughal rule ended in punjab, Durranis settled in multan and surroundings and are still the landowner and elite class.

Neither do the Urdu speaking people of UP and Bihar. They don't think Pashtuns are superior to them. Don't try to be their spokesman

Bulleh shah was also born in pathan colony of kasur yet we do not find his poetry about pathans. If i am not wrong bulleh shah also said some thing offensive about afghans.

you are dead wrong. Pashtuns have been in Punjab for a 1000 years. It is not very easy to destroy settlements in Punjab. Mughals included thousands of Pashtun soldiers. If they wanted, they should have destroyed Pashtuns in Rohilla first, in their backyard.

Yes many Durranis came to Multan after Mughal rule ended, but that does not mean they were not there before.

Oh come on! ALL Yusufzai and Ghilzai families in Kasur and Lahore sing the praises and poetry of Hazrat AbdAllah Shah Qadiri RA ( Bulleh Shah). If you don't believe me, come to Lahore

. Conquering Lahore mean conquering central Punjab but average person in village will not even know what is going on centuries ago. Pathans were not landowners in central punjab. Instead they migrated to UP/Bihar in large numbers. Land owners continued to be same old tribes.

Do you even know the history of rohillas? .Pashtun mercenaries took advantage of decline of mughal empire after 1707 and established their rule on not only rohilkhund, but also farrukhabad, tonk, bhopal, jonagadh and numerous other small states.
Mughals had strict policy about pashtuns. They prevented any pashtun settlement in india in big cluster. Moreover they destroyed 1 lakh families of dilazak pashtuns who were living on east side of indus in attock and hazara. Jadoons, tareens etc have settled in hazara after 1707.
But yes, there used to be pashtun mercenaries wandering around in india, for jobs, used to get hired by small nawabs and rajas as gaurds. Mughals reduced the pashtuns/afghans into gaurds of hindu rajas and small nawabs.

Actually the heavey village settlements in pakistani part of central punjab took place mainly in 16th century during mughal empire when they encouraged village settlements on this side of punjab which was earlier mostly forested area (calle baila bar in old times, still called this way the forest tract around rivers). The agricultural settlement boom was due to the introduction of a new technology namely persian irrigation wheel (so-called Rahat) by Mughals who acquired it from persians of iran which made agriculture much more efficient and professional.

The jatts and Gujjars prior to that were mostly pastrolist animal herders (more like nomadic gujjars in kashmir and northern areas) but they took advantage of this situation and turned to agriculture in central punjab. I have a feeling that they were in good books of ruling mughals controlling central punjab from Lahore at that time. Since that time the land ownership has more or less remained in the hands of these tribes in central punjab. Abdali pashtun rule did not infringe their land ownership perhaps they levied only heavy taxes on them.

So this means this chokidari profession is really very old for them

Pashtun migration to U.P and bihar occured in 18th century after decline of mughal empire, i was talking about lodhi and suri period. During that time lodhis and kin tribes were jagirdars of punjab as well as U.P and bihar. Mughals cleansed this entire region of pashtuns, from punjab to bengal, so that when rohillas and durranis settled here in 18th century, there were no existing pathan population. Do you want to know how a population dwindle in a region? Look at bengal, where are lodis, suris, khiljis and karranis?

small nawabs? :omghaha: I think you have an inferiority complex againt Mughals.

Mughals couldn't do nothing to the mighty Pakhtuns. Look, I don't think you know the Pashtuns of Punjab or Rohilla. Pashtuns were already concentrated in massive numbers in the area RohillaKhand, in Bihar, all around Eastern Punjab, in Jammu, and all around Punjab, Rajasthan, Gwalior, Bhopal, Dakkan, Gujarat and as far as Bengal in smaller numbers.

Rohillakhand the state was formed after 1707, but that does not mean the Pashtuns appeared there then. They were already living there for centuries! Pashtuns have been living in Multan since the time of Mahmud Ghaznawi. 1 lakh families means 1 million people considering 10 persons per family, which I believe was the population of half of KPK back then. Impossible.

Are you telling me Mughals exterminated entire pashtun population from central punjab? Any source?

now you have proven that you dont know what you are talking about and are panicking and getting desperate as the indian members say

The massive Pashtun population migrated to UP and Bihar after decline of Mughal empire?

Then how do you explain the well built Pashtun massive colonies in East Punjab? They always existed. And Rohillakhand is a continuum of them albeit with a much higher percentage of Pashtuns
