Americans have laid the foundations of Afghanistan on fault lines........A minority can never rule over majority, it will always lead to a conflict. ANA will face a lot difficult times then it is facing now. For Afghanistan to function adequately, representation of all ethnicities in government is a pre-requisite.

Muslimyar alleges Pak-US deal on Durand Line
ThursdayMay 9, 2013

By Abasin Zaheer

KABUL (PAN): Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar on Thursday alleged US troops had paved the ground for Pakistani forces to advance 40 kilometres into eastern Afghanistan under "a secret deal".

Muslimyar, who returned a day earlier from a visit to the Goshta district in eastern Nangarhar province, told reporters in Kabul the Americans had asked Afghans around nine years ago to allow the Pakistanis to conduct operations against insurgents in the area.

Quoting tribal elders and residents, the Senate chairman said there had been a clash between Goshta residents and Pakistani troops who first attempted to enter the area.

Afghan and Pakistani forces suffered casualties after the two sides clashed for a second time in less than a week on Monday over the reconstruction of a security gate that was razed in the previous skirmish.

Muslimyar said they had visited villages lying close the Durand Line and talked to residents there. He said after the clash between Goshta residents and Pakistani forces, the US troops intervened and asked residents to allow the Pakistanis to conduct operations against terrorists.

Under the pretext of military action against insurgents, the Pakistanis installed constructed installations 40 kilometers inside Afghanistan,
he claimed, asking the government to enter talks with the US on the question.

He warned if the talks did not produce any results, lawmakers and the people would act unilaterally to defend their motherland.

"The US and NATO have cut secret deals with Pakistan over the Durand Line issue. The US should not sell out our land and should respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty," he demanded.

Muslimyar said the US had to defend Afghanistan's borders under the strategic partnership agreement between the allies. Pakistan should not be allowed to establish military posts inside Afghanistan, he continued.

"The Durand Line is not acceptable to us and we will never recognise it," he said, asking the US to resolve the issue with Pakistan before signing a bilateral security agreement with Afghanistan.

Taliban in 72 percent of Afghanistan: report

* NATO spokesman says figure not credible

KABUL: The Taliban hold a permanent presence in 72 percent of Afghanistan, a think tank said on Monday, but NATO and the Afghan government rejected the report, saying its figures were not credible.

The findings by the International Council on Security and Development (ICOS) come in the wake of a series of critical reports on Western-led military and development efforts to put an end to the seven-year Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

While the trends in the ICOS report reflected prevailing sentiment on Afghanistan, many of its findings appeared flawed and contained some glaring errors, security analysts said.

“The Taliban now have a permanent presence in 72 percent of the country,” ICOS said in the report.

The report defines a permanent presence as an average of one or more insurgent attacks per week over the entire year.

According to ICOS, a ‘permanent presence’ then would include many areas of the country where the Taliban traditionally launch a large number of attacks in the spring and summer ‘fighting season’, before melting away during the harsh winter months.

Not credible: “We don’t see the figures in this report as being credible at all,” said NATO spokesman James Appathurai. “The Taliban are only present in the south and east which is already less than 50 percent of the country.”

The Afghan government also rejected the report and said, “In addition to the questionable methodology of the report and its conceptual confusion, the report has misinterpreted the sporadic, terrorising and media-oriented activities of the Taliban.” reuters

Yes those who attacked your check posts were former NA commanders and soldiers

The one that was killed must be one of them aswell..

Oh I see British? dady speaking...

Yes yours... how many british troops are in afghanistan again?

cement import from pakistan has also dropped when we opened 2 cement factories however we are still #1 buyer of pakistani cement that means if our own markets flourish no one is gonna buy pakistani cement... other construction material are imported from Russian federation - wheat, oil, vegetables, fertilizers are now produced within Afghanistan as I said earlier.

Yeah right.
And about smuggling... oil and gas has been smuggled to pakistan from Afghanistan from last 4 years and some smugglers have been arrested recently which has remarkably decreased the price of /KG gas from 75AFN to 45AFN.

HAHAHA... Heard about smuggled iranian oil sold in Baluchistan... but afghan oil and we dont import gas ..do you even have oil or gas? we have large natural gas reserves in our own country

I bet you dont even have a source of this bs..

In terms of attrition, yes, in terms of morale, no.

Even losing a single cop against untrained militants is seen as a failure.

What to say about of our FC who surrender every now and then and get their head chopped of without fighting ?

Americans have been literally begging everyone to join in.

However Afghanistanis refuse to sit at one table and sort out their differences.

You say minority cannot rule over majority,

then would you be against the Talib-b@stard minority who is using bombs and bullets to rule over majority?

We should use the same standard for everyone.

Same standard.

Mr karzai hopes that he can get rid of the Nanganhar Gov Gul Agha Sherzai -- Gul Agha was a presidential candidate and is a friend of Obama, Mr. Karzai's brother is now a casndidate for president -- If Mr. Karzai can use nationalism and get Gul Agha ousted, it really would be a coup
