CHAMAN: One week after Afghan citizens protested and desecrated Pakistan’s flag, the Pak-Afghan border remained closed on Thursday.
Long queues of NATO containers as well as cargo trucks were witnessed on both sides of the borders while all kind of transit trade had been stopped due to the closure.
Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and industry Vice President, engineer Daru Khan said that immediate steps would be taken to open the border.
While the two countries are engaged in resolving their diplomatic differences, local traders are losing thousands of dollars daily.
However, Afghanistan's forces had called a flag meeting with Pakistani forces three times which ended unproductive. In the meetings Pakistan categorically stated that Afghan authorities should apologize for the incident on August 18.
The Bab-e-Dosti gate was closed as a sign of protest when pro-Indian Afghan protesters pelted stones at the gate, raised slogans against Pakistan and desecrated the Pakistani national flag in the presence of the Afghan security forces.
