iran needs to rethink its strategy in afghanistan. iran must not play the role of a spoiler like india did...iran needs to be a force that fosters brotherhood among the afghans and friendship in the neighborhood...otherwise things will backfire on iran. Neither the taliban, nor Pakistan, nor China nor Russia will be tolerate iran if it chooses to play the spoiler.

Agree, but the Taliban are a different breed, mostly born in Pakistan. Most of their cadres are non Afghanis as well. Let's see how the future pans out. Nevertheless, there is no harm in daydreaming.

A war is war. If an invader cannot achieve its objectives, it is a loss.. Of course, it is detrimental for the Afghan people due the perennial nature of it.
Like how many soviets lives were lost in WW2, but they achieved their objectives. Or Vietnamese lost millions to defeat US.

So as per definition of losing a war, the collation forces have lost Afghan war.
