Advanced equipment is being purchased for the Air Force: Law Minister

You can dream about those fancy Super Hornets or Typhoons.... we are strategic partners and your destiny is either Rafales or Super Fulcrum MIG 35s.... that time we will decide who will join comedy.... we are strategic partners.... MIG 29 and Apache is already step taken... commonality is our motto....

I feel bad for replying to your posts and correcting your obvious ignorance.

I am sure you a nice person.

All I will say is:

India cannot stop Bangladesh from procuring any advance weapons system they want.... in fact it's in the interest of India that Bangladesh is becoming stronger..... we both are strategic allies.... in future China will shift its focus on bay of Bengal too.... India and Bangladesh both are weaker powers compared to China military might.... we are both getting ready for that future.... hence the strategic alliance... we need strong Bangladesh so we can protect each other....

It's great to see Bangladesh flexing up the muscles.... only thing is they should maintain the commonality in platforms considering our strategic alliance...
What common allies you are talking about? Is it against China? Is it against Pakistan? Or, is it against Myanmar? Do not ever dream that when our military has not bought a single piece of a screwdriver from the Indian source.

The $500 million worth of unsolicited military loan is now rotting in the vault of your Reserve Bank of India when you are flattering yourself with the talk of strategic alliance.

It may have been kept open, the replacement isn't ready yet, but I could be wrong.

We're training air force cadets with this WWII vintage platform,

When we should be training with Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucanos, which could double as a COIN platforms...

Exactly on point!

It is high time BAF went for a different platform for it's Primary Trainer and possibly with TOT. There is a plan to produce trainers in the country as I understand.

The Super Tucanos are amazing for the role of trainers and also COIN aircraft. There are also other alternatives and the one I'm most interested in is Hurkus. The Turkish bird is a nice catch IMO!!!

Responding to the question of a member of the government team, Muhibur Rahman, the minister said that the procurement of 16 multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA), 8 attack helicopters, three VVIP helicopters, two air defense radar unit, 24 Primary Trainer Aircraft, two Light Aircraft, one K-8W Simulator, four MRAP vehicles, one AW-119KX Simulator, two Counter UAV surveillance Radar and a mobile ATC tower are in process.

Responding to the same question, Anisul Haque said that under the Bangladeshi peacekeeping mission, 15 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Youth Jammers have been purchased to protect Bangladeshi peacekeepers and 50 more MRAPs have been contracted from the United States.
By the tone of the speech by the Law/Defence Minister, I have a feeling that 16 Multirole Combat Aircrafts (MRCA) will also be purchased from the USA. He stated the purchases in one single breath. I hope it is F-16 older Block revamped to Block 70/72.

Note that BD exports more than $6 billion worth of goodies to the USA. The USA is supposed to be reciprocated similarly. BD has almost no export to Russia. China also imports a limited quantity of goods. So, why not buy from America with whom we have a huge trade imbalance? They have the best military technology.

Exactly. Bangladesh's economic and strategic wellbeing is tied to the West.
Bangladesh needs to align with the West the same way Japan and South Korea are. This will provide both access to quality equipment and Western backing during conflicts.
Even though the West has strong interests in India, they will at least intervene to broker peace in the event of a BD-India flare up.

Operating a mix of American and European weapon would also reduce the risk of being completely bogged down by sanctions.

Yup agreed on all points. I believe the Royal Air Force used the Embraer Tucano as a trainer until recently (not the Super Tucano). The Swiss offer the Pilatus-21, which is on the pricey high-end side used by Western Air forces such as France and Australia (also some in the Gulf).

Besides the Hurkus, you have the Korean KT-1 trainer as well. It is used by Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU). Weapons fit-out for COIN is pretty well-appointed for the KA-1 Variant. @Indos for his comments in TNI-AU service.

Regardless of which trainer we choose, we should look at easier ToT integration to start something NOW.

Indians think their country no less than the USA. So, it is difficult for other countries to enter India's heart. It is always lonely because it overestimates itself. After all, Indians devised space technologies during the Vedic age some 10,000 years ago.

BD, small but economically vibrant, can substitute even India just like Japan or Korea does against China in favor of America. Both are too tiny, yet receives a lot of attention from the USA. I believe, BD can play an almost similar role. If the USA is friendly with India, BD's friendship with America can play a check and balance against India as well.

Think about the US foreign policy mindset. If it wants to surround China with the help of India, again it also wants to encircle India as well with BD, Pakistan and even China. America is not really any country's friend. It is the King of the Chess Board, and West Europe and Israel are its two Queens and all other countries are the Pieces on the chessboard.

We have to make the best use of the current goodwill that the USA is showing to us. Anyway, this is just my personal opinion and maybe without any practical value.

In short become a vessel state of USA and get yourselves involved in their dirty wars.... they will give you all those fancy toys and ask them to use to keep your strategic ally India and your friend China in check.... as per all you guys India is your enemy and China is your friend right??? USA doesn't give anything just like that.... they will fully get it refunded from you.... be some self respecting nation and have independent policies like Russians, Indians and Chinese.... even your role model Turkey is distancing itself from USA

They're kings and queens for in their camp and Bangladesh can feel happy being their pawn on the chessboard... but don't forget that on chessboard there's opposite force too where India, China, Russia and Iran types self respecting nations are kings and queens....

Absolutely agree. There is no point getting PT-6 (I am still not sure if BAF will buy them). Instead, the one you proposed or any other western trainers could fit well (riding on the assumption that we will get US jets). We should have actually negotiated some trainers with them or some European ones that could have been also used for light attack purpose.

Law and Justice Minister Anisul Haque, who is responsible for the defense ministry in the work of parliament, said that the latest equipment was being purchased for the Air Force. Speaker said Thursday. He addressed this in a Q&A session chaired by Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.

I suggest 8 attack helicopter acquisition plan should be replaced by UCAV drone instead, cheaper and more effective

Yes, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and a hundred other countries play only a secondary role with the USA. What do you want BD to play? A main role King? No, Sir, we cannot. Let India try it with its 120 Crore illiterate population.

I think the way the Indian economy is run by that Chaiwala Modi, it will soon become a third rate country without receiving respects from other countries and as a result, it will fall off the chessboard and we will take over the place. It is already happening.

I suggest 8 attack helicopter acquisition plan should be replaced by UCAV drone instead, cheaper and more effective
I think helicopters have many other functions that cannot be readily accomplished by drones.
