Food habit, everybody has their own. I don't eat dogs and cats, but for that I cannot ban it for others, for people of some areas in our north-east and in some east Asian countries dogs and cats are food.

Well. Want to know the reaction of presstitutes and sickulars if someone were to arrange dog & cat meat festival at Jantar mantar?

The point is, there is few things that are culturally sensitive. Cow has an emotional attachment to Indians.

If people have problems with respecting that, only god can save Hindus.

Aghoris have been known to eat human flesh, so make that legal too.

By claiming Food 'HABITS' you have admitted that it has NOTHING to do with Logic.

Habits are not rational, it is the very definition of Irrational. Like Smoking, even though you know it will kill you. All 'Habits' are just a feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience.

But 'Bans' are not based on 'habits'. They are based on Larger principles of Ethics, morality and Equity.

The Only way anyone can stand up against 'bans' is to throw all such principles out of the window and go strictly by 'Logic', in which case ANY and ALL Flesh should be available. I don't see why 'Selective' flesh can be marked 'kosher' and 'halal'. Logic dictates no double standards.

I mean Malaysia also runs Casinos (I have been to them) open only for foreigners, pork consumption is blanket banned in many Muslim countries like UAE but available for expats in certain stores, same goes for alcohol....world is full of such examples in developing societies....and even some "developed" ones.

So Malaysia doesn't discriminate its citizens since it does not bind the minorities under sharia law and hence gambling is allowed for Non-muslims.



And as stated by you, UAE lets non-muslims consume pork or alcohol, so neither of the countries are acting against its minorities the way Haryana imposed a blanket ban on beef consumption.

What is 'rule by majority' when BJP govt. got only 31% votes, and previous Congress govt. got even less? Why do you think both the previous govt. and now BJP govt. are having difficulties in getting the bills passed? Because they all work under the constitutional framework and need to work with all, even the political minorities that got votes in single digits!

The situation you are suggesting is not new, it happened in Hitler's Germany, Stalin's USSR, Kim Jong's North Korea, erstwhile East Germany, and many other places, and briefly in India during Indira Gandhi's period. But those are not great examples to follow.



Secularism is not an European concept, it's just an English word. Many Indian kings have followed the concept for thousands of years in ancient times.

Do you know about the Bumiputeras of Malaysia?
They are exclusively Malay and Muslim, Non-Malays and Non-Muslims never get that status.

I was in conversation with a poster who claimed that other countries also ban certain things which discriminates their citizens, hence I posted sources where I showed that these Governments don't discriminate certain section of their citizens. So what you are speaking is no where related to my conversations...
