Abe pushes for Japan to become permanent member of UNSC

since UN is already dominated by us team, what kind of difference will it make wrether japan get the seat or not?

Unless Japan find way to bypass both China and Russia it is not going to happen. and will never happen if a resolution vote in General Assembly, (where we have more influence with Latin America , Africa votes, Middle east votes. )

Germany has a way better chance at becoming an permanent member, believe it or not, Germany good relations with ALL 5 current permanent members, and they even probably get a vote from Israel, their foreign policy is also more independent when comparing to Japan. (while Japan will just vote with USA every time)

Interesting. @BoQ77 my friend, can you make a new thread with a poll option in the World Affairs section?

You can make the voting options something like:

-Brazil
-Germany
-India
-Japan
-Someone else
-No one

Someone can then print the result and send it to the UN.

Meaningless.

Vietnam was blocked by the world for too long, you guys don't know the world. Hurry up and learn world history.
No he must know. He may want to say our 1971's return to USNC is under the support of the 3rd world. But the core problems is we already had a membership, only occupied by wrong person at that time, and what India require is an extra ticket.

Don't forget. Today's friend may meant tomorrow's enemies.

Remember how US gives China the UN permanent seat of ROC and end up CCP OF China. Same as 70years ago both US and Japan were killing each other's. Now become friend, you will not know suddenly Jaoan turn hostile towards US. Then you have Japan, China And Russia against the west.

Wot are you talking about? US gave China the UN permanent security concil seat? Nope, it's because China made huge contributions to defeat the Axis during WWII. At that time, India was still part of UK empire and Brazil is far away from world war battlefield. Otherwise, India and Brazil could be P7 in the first place.

The UN SC should now have permanent members representing all regions:

US - Americas
Russia - East Asia
Japan - Asia Pacific
India - South Asia
China - Central Asia
Germany/France - Europe
South Africa - African continent
Australia.
Interesting.
But this is still enough. Middle-east Islamic countries, SEA will also require, also England wont agree. And why China stands for Central Asia?

You are the wrong person talking about this topic.

No Germany. With France and the UK already in P5, the EU already has enough voices.

OK than we need a African country then, they have no voice on the council, Then latin American, Middle east,
Japan can wait for its turn, :omghaha:

You're right. There needs to be a country to represent the Middle East/West Asia. What do you suggest? But that would be a tough call as it would become a Sunni Vs Shia scramble for a permanent seat from the region!!

You couldnt be more wrong, while France "might"(which they dont) make some half independent choice, UK is just a mini US, truth is that EU will have no true representative in UN besides Germany.

I advise India to represent Middle East/West Asia. As I know, India is the biggest Islamic country all over the world, with 200 million Muslims.

That's what some members here are arguing for. With Japan, for the most part, aligned to the US, they want a different voice.
