NEW DELHI: The BJP might get a majority in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections by winning 37 seats in the 70-member house, an opinion poll suggested Wednesday.

The opinion poll, conducted by India TV-CVoter, said there would be no change in the Aam Aadmi Party's tally which got 28 seats in the 2013 assembly polls while the Congress' seats would go down from 8 to 5.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged 31 seats while its ally Shiromani Akali Dal won one seat in the last assembly elections.

In the vote share projections, the survey said the BJP might get 45 percent votes, closely followed by the AAP with 40 percent and the Congress with 10 percent.

Delhi goes to the polls Feb 7 and ballots would be counted Feb 10.

Rubbish analysis.

In Delhi, BJP would be single largest party, and there would be a hung assembly and Congress and AAP would form government.

Pretty much how it was in last election, but this time around, Congress would demand it's pound of flesh to support AAP.


Anyone who think that a voter who did not voted for AAP in last election ,when they were Knights in shining armor slaying dragon of corruption, would vote for them this time around is deluded.

Only voting block that has shifted allegience in favor of AAP is muslim voting block, which would lead to AAP gaining maximum of 2 seats at the expense of Congress. BJP has gained ground in Upper middle class and some JJ colonies.Both of which are not enough to alter seat composition in big way.

Although I agree that delaying elections were stupidity on part of BJP, and had they declared elections immediately, they would have easily got majority.

And hello, Delhi is a glorified muncipality, and have most divergent voting prefernce from majority of Indian states. These elction would have no effect on anywhere else, probably a reason that BJP central leadership ignored it when election in other states were going on.

Although i would vote for BJP, i do not think that it will get simple majority; or even BJP candidate from my area would win. BJP workes are like zombies on campaign. They are running this campaign like that of a village panchayat.

I think a loosing Delhi for BJP is a must bcoz lately they loose focus on many things. I said its a must bcoz its helps them stop passing loose comments by caders and give for focus on upcoming state elections in Bengal and UP which is in dire need of a nationalistic party which BJP can provide.. But they need a better leader in UP ..
