Please do keep in mind that the survey is based on 1,201 individuals in Pakistan, and 2,464 individuals in India, all claiming what they believe in and not what they actually do.

I used to think the differences between India and Pakistan were minimal and largely down to recent historical events but as time has progressed it has become apparent to me that India and Pakistan have massively diverging trajectories and are becoming fundamentally incompatible.

While surveys don't give us absolute reality of the situation (due to obvious limitations of statistical models)--they do give us a clear picture of macro trends within a given population.

Why would we be alarmed? The survey only confirms what we know ourselves.

Pakistan is a deeply Islamic culture and while many of Pakistanis do not follow the religion with perfection--they still value Islam's central role in construction of Pakistan's identity, traditions, and culture (and respect it as well).

Rejecting alcohol/drugs consumption, valuing the institution of marriage instead of promiscuous sexual encounters, and looking down upon things like gambling etc is not "backwards"...

If anything, these things are a predictor of a more fitter or better social culture from social evolutionary point of view.

Pakistan is a culture that is expanding faster india while maintaining it's traditional values/heritage and attaining higher levels of prosperity by engaging in global marketplace. While India is not only losing its indigenous outlook and getting foreignized, it is also much poorer.

In South Asian context, that is a successful social culture relative to india.

(For idiots who'd bring ISRO and other dumb things into comparison, we here are talking about social culture, not material domain where both India and Pakistan have their successes and failures. So please google what does social means).

To some extent, yes. And that divergence has been remarkably positive for Pakistan and not so much for india.

Pakistan outperforms india is majority of categories relating to social culture--whether it's racism/ethnic bigotry, rapes, social protection of fellow citizens, individual resource sharing, family structures, valuing family, divorce rates, social protection net, marriage rates, healthy fertility etc. etc. etc.

And again, better results in all of the above social categories alongside achieving higher wealth and prosperity as a society

Uneven polling with biased standard points. PEW is itself a controversial organization that has had issues with correctly giving the no. of muslim population in USA, as it was a 'political' issue. These jokers in PEW thru their methodology have pushed for a biased narrative that is close to their own worldview in which the ppl they poll, the no.s, fact-finding techniques are all questionable. A PEW poll on views of different nations towards each other showed Chinese favorable towards Pakistan as 30%, upon which a Chinese person contested the findings and posted the response he received, PEW did'nt do it themselves but thru a consulting firm HorizonKey, which itself did not explaion the techniques and the methodology involved. They made no mention of the views as the unfavorable rate was taken as 70% automatically, also not explained. This was ll finding by a Chinese, Pakistani libtards did'nt even research before accepting it which shows how dumb and agenda-fied our liberal class is.

PAk libtards need to grow a brain and verify these jokers, if its from US does'nt mean it would be true.

Let me put things in perspective. Indians are far more liberal towards things like alcohol consumption, divorce, extra-marital affairs, homesexuality than pakistanis (or Muslims in general as many pakistani responders in this thread are saying). In reality this manifests like this:

Indians are OK with these issues as long as it is not in their family (hypocrisy) but accepts people outside the family who indulge in these things rather fairly and n an unbiased way.

Pakistani (or muslims in general) absolutely denounce such things openly and can be quite aggressive in repelling/outcasting people who indulge in such things (but secretly may do so themselves - hypocrisy again).

Regarding contraceptive use and abortion acceptablity , India's percentgae of acceptance is still very low. Need more work on those areas. I wonder where was this survey conducted in India.
