A Sino-centric Asia is unlikely

Some rubbish I found on the first page of that thread.

The real religion of China is China.

Chinese do not have a passion for religion as Indians have. God, moh, maya, liberation are not concepts that entice and enrapture the Chinese mind. In the absence of a real religion, the Chinese are passionate about China itself. This is in marked contrast to India. In fact, they find Indian zeal for religion amusing, if not downright foolish.

Islam is a political doctrine disguised as a religion
Confucianism is a pure political doctrine

The Chinese for now, as long as there are dictators and tyrants to appease.

Also in Africa in some countries there is an anti-Indian bias due to perceived Indian aloofness to the locals.

However, Indians have been there on the ground longer and it is easier for India to acheive support from democratic governments in Africa.
ROFL:
yes we know very little about China, but what we find out indirectly from this sort of Chinese behavior is not flattering to the Chinese. Most Chinese who come on this forum are very reluctant to hear anything bad about China. this is the exact opposite of Indians who do not mind being openly critical about India.

That last one made me lol

They are making a mockery of Sun Tzu's classic dictum

It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

Americans General Attitudes Toward China

Americans lean toward negative views of China’s role in the world, its government, economic system, leadership, and its human rights record. There is little optimism that the human rights record will improve or that China will become more democratic. Trust in China is fairly low
American attitudes: Americans & the World

Americans favorable impressions of China plummeted from 72% to just 16% due to Tiananmen Square . Its near 50 50 right now. Americans dont see China as a military threat in the next ten years. Long term americans see China as a possible military threat.

There is no question that China is becoming more and more assertive. Sooner or later it is likely that it will bring China in to an economic or military confrontation with Japan, India or the USA where neither is willing to back down.

i have to thank you. before i was a mindless communist slave , now i see the light . you're right, my life is worthless and i should bow down before the awesome, invincible might of the united states.

Yes a big thumbs up for the management here. Their light handed approach and impartiality is critical to this forum's success.

Why are you guys comparing def.pk and BR? BR is full of ultra nationalists and hawks.

There are moderate forums too ( Defence Forum of India is an example)

Ahhh but what are their relative sizes and popularity amongst Indians?

You'd better wait till the heat death of the universe buddy.

Oh god is that coming up soon? Can I stop it if I cover my house in Tin foil?

Well BR is a VERY old site (launched in 2000 AFAIK), it started off as a site for professionals but was later taken over by ultra nationalists

This 'Defence Forum of India' used to be pretty big, was called IDF (Indian defence forum), but their servers went down, lost their original domain name, thus huge loss of members

Don't worry, we're not judging Indians by basing it on a piece of rubbish like that BR forum (as I found out today)

General views of Americans can be real jokes. I watched a top popular American TV game show, the host asked the contestants where is Kuala Lumpur, none gave correct answer, one said it is in Singapore, another said it is an island in the Pacific Ocean..... How I wish I am living on a island in the Pacific.

The average American knowledge on Asian Affairs could be so naive.:hitwall: Let's just disregard what they think.

That pales in comparison with their ignorance of their own history.

Yesterday, there was a huge debate in my economics class if Obama was a Muslim or not.

And my friends have asked if Israel has kosher meat, because I'm from the same 'general area over there.'

My view is that only the extremely fortunate or extremely ill-fortunate can afford the luxury of ignorance. Some countries, like Chad, have their citizenry uneducated due to low living standards. Other countries, like US, are very wealthy but because they have such good political and military standings, they don't have to know much. They know that the Presidential election in '12 will not cause a civil war, while Pakistani's are wondering if the army will oust Zardari. That is why Pakistanis pay more attention to their politics.

In complete agreement with you here...
