Japan is still dreaming for its Flying Geese Paradigm model with Japan being the leading Geese. But even for those Vietnamese, they always have United States first. Japan is just one country with regular size and regular population. It has no advantages to other Asian countries except some technology lead. Japan just resists to admit it.

The more Japan feel great about Showa era, the more the darkness of Japanese culture. Japanese enjoy proper built on other people's pains.

Yes we are just a regular asian country with regular ambitions, peace-oriented. Thank you for sharing your views in this thread, tho i may disagree, i respect your views. I think it is important to stress the peace-oriented position of Japan and Japanese folks nowadays. This thread was generated after some Japanese members had urged me to create more developmental and peace-designed threads. I am actually in communication with Japanese visitors here to PDF who wish to build a more positive image for our country.

Regards.
Peace.

Anyways, its good to see the people oriented nature of the Imperial family.

If you can read Japanese, you cannot be surprised at all. This is the current Japan. Their ministers pay tribute to war criminal officially; their people treat those war criminals as the most glorious part of Japan history. Chinese attitudes toward Japan and United States are completely different. The more you understand United States, the more respectful you feel about United States, the competition between China and United States really require Chinese to improve ourselves greatly. The domination by Anglo-Saxon people for the last several centuries is not a coincidence. But The more you understand Japan, the more you dislike Japan. Japan just made good speculative bets in 1900s.

Japanese society is still very barbarian, covered by their prosper built on robbery of asia and their service courtesy. They have no idea of respect and equality. Their foreign policy only have two words: conquered or being conquered. They have no idea how to live peacefully and equally with other countries and other ethnic groups because Japan lived on isolated islands with poor resources. They rarely had a luxury to live peacefully and equally with independent policies. In ancient times they were dominated by China and in modern times, they are dominated by Anglo-Saxon people. Showa era was the only memorable era for Japan to live independently.

I have been working with some Japanese people in the past, and have generally positive view with their work ethic. This particular member represents the view point of the extreme right wing segment of Japanese society today. He has been using every opportunities to please members from other countries, especially the members from countries that are at odd with China. This post revealed his true mentality, and given a chance those Japanese with the same mentality would not hesitate to start their adventure again to accomplish what they think their rightful position in Asia.

In these people's mind, there is no right of wrong, there is only win or loss. They are dangerous to peace in Asia and in the world. Just look at what Japanese Government has been doing with excessive weapon grade nuclear material, you know they have been planning for the future war for a very long time.

Compared to his Majesty's army, Nazi Germany army behaved like gentlemen. Nazi Germany basically only targeted Jews and at least killed them as human beings. His Majesty's army targeted eveyone and killed people as killing animals.

Can you please stop with this rubbish?

The first casualty of war is Truth. (I think a wise Chinese fellow said that long ago). And History is written by the victors. I do not know much about the war in East Asia. I have studied more the European theatre and have found there to be many great lies uttered against N.S Germay by the Victors. It seems that these lies carried on to tarnish Japan as well?

Japanese paying tribute to Showa is no different from Germany paying tribute to Hitler.

A people should be allowed to respect their dead ones. No matter what race or nationality they were. If the Victors (UK, USA, USSR) are allowed this (and they were the biggest murders and oppressors on Earth), surely the vanquished should be allowed this.

My friend, the truth lies somewhere in the middle of two countering views. The German, American, Russian, French version of the war is biased to their context. The truth is somewhere in the middle of these countering views.

To know truth we must exercise patience, and objective, qualitative and quantitative inquiry. We cannot (or at least try to control it) allow one's emotions to get the better and influence our judgment and execution of objective inquiry.

There is nothing personal about this. What I am against is the behavior of trying to glorify a war criminal who has inflicted so many death and so much pain to the people of other Asian countries in the past. Let's not pretend.

You are a sound mind, a brilliant one. There are too few good men like you around. Sadly.

Patience and objectivity is needed. But WW II for many (understandably) is very subjective. Unfortunate.

Now we all know or have heard of war crimes comitted by Japanese forces during the war but how many have heard of the crimes comitted against the Japanese even after the war. Read Goodrich @ The Untold Story of American War Crimes in Japan (Part 1) – Darkmoon

Your attempt to try to project me as a "right wing extremist" is absolutely uncalled for an TOTALLY an example of Libel. I am in no ways a right winger nor do i subject or subscribe to the thoughts and views of Uyoko Dantai. I am actually a progressive , albeit a social conservative, i am a liberal in every sense of the word in regards to social policy, economic policy and even in some social demography laws (i believe in gay marriage, i believe in greater women's rights, i believe in a secular form of government, and most of all i believe in cultural ethos).

I do not know you nor have I ever , ever laid an accusational post about you or attempted (nor will i) ever try to post any defamatory and derogation of you. I do not engage in such trifles. So , please do not do so with me. I am not here to cause any problems, not here to play in subversive attacks, am here to share pictures of the late Emperor Showa. Pictures that are rarely seen.

So, please correct yourself before you wreck yourself.

My friend, you really don't have idea what the person this Japaneses member tried to glorify means to people of China. I agree with you the first casual of war is truth, but it doesn't mean there is no truth. Simply truth about the particular war between China and Japan was, it is Japanese who invaded China and killed millions upon millions Chinese people.

Look at your own Avatar, any normal person in today's Japan would glorify that? A WWII Japanese Royal Army Soldier with a bayonet under the rising sun flag?

Yes, what were the reasons for invading? What was the circumstances before the war? I have read that Chinese leaders in the past killed lots of Chinese people (I am not trying to excuse Japanese war crimes but trying to get a balanced picture). If a Japanese person wants to honor his war dead and he is not doing it in China or on a Chinese platform then you should state your disapproval and then leave him to it. Chinese honor their war dead don't they? I am sure Chinese military is not without its crimes in the past.

The Emperor Showa's preference for non-politics ,

hirohito.jpg

But what happens when the individual who embodies the state is himself a curiosus? Consider the late Emperor Hirohito’s marine-biological endeavors, which yielded up serious scientific publications. The curiosity of the emperor, demoted from his pre-war status as an incarnate divinity, was coupled with a lifelong indifference to what one might imagine would be the heavily freighted matter of Japan’s role in World War II and the build-up to it.

In 1975, when asked, “Does your majesty feel responsibility for the war itself, including the opening of hostilities?,” the emperor replied: “I can't answer that kind of question because I haven’t thoroughly studied the literature in this field” . The Japanese emperor is not an expert on the Japanese empire; he's more interested in marine worms and hydroids. One can’t help but detect in the emperor a fairly selective variety of curiosity, one that is evasively non-political, and very much unlike Nabokov’s defiantly apolitical lepidoptery.

Look at your own Avatar, any normal person in today's Japan would glorify that? A WWII Japanese Royal Army Soldier with a bayonet under the rising sun flag?

My avatar is the Rising Sun emblem on the background; with a samurai holding an unsheathed Nihonto (a katana). That is not a WW2 Imperial soldier. This image is more so semblant of pre-modern Japan; during the Sengoku Jidai.
