A question to Chinese members. Do you have any family member who unnaturally died in Mao era?

China's population was about 700 million in Mao era. Based on below photo, 1/10 Chinese were killed by Mao. Which means almost every Chinese family lost a family member/relative. Which is obviously absurd. I'm Chinese. I don't have any relative killed in that time. And all people around me never mentioned they have relative killed by Mao.

There is a comparable example. I know some people who have relatives killed by Japanese during WW2. Yet in below photo there are only 7 drops under Japan Empire.

I heard from my parents that people lacked nutrition in those days, but they never heard anyone starve to death. It is worth mentioning that my father grew up in the poor mountains & forests area of Hunan Province, while my mother grew up in the village not far away. The specific location is roughly between Shimen(石门) County and Tujia Autonomous County.
It can be concluded that they were among the poorest group in China at that time. So I often doubt the claims that Mao killed millions of people. Even my parents were not short of basic food to keep them alive at that time, what they lacked were meat, eggs and wide variety of vegetables. I guess few of Chinese in this forum should come from such poor family. hehe. 大部分人在那个时代应该比我父母过得要好吧。

I asked my grandpa, no.

Some people are confusing right and wrong. They took the number of people who should have increased in normal years, minus the actual number, and added it to the famine deaths of 1958-1962. Thirty million people starve to death, and these people are either stupid or bad.

In fact, 20 million people are born in normal years, and people are afraid to have children in famine years, which is reduced to 15 million newborns every year. Nearly 10 million people are born less every year, and some people deliberately calculated they are starving to death.

Newborn:
1956 19.61million
1957 21.38million
1958 18.89million
1959 16.35million
1960 14.02million
1961 9.49million
1962 24.51million

Population growth slowed because the famine did not produce children, not because the famine starved to death.

Just like when we advocated food conservation, a large number of English media, Taiwan media and India media began to say that there was a famine in China😂

Wow. Your parents saw a huge increase in standard of living in one lifetime huh? And now you're able to study in other provinces.

Yes, indeed. The present life, for them in the past, may be unbelievable happiness. Thanks to their diligence.
