I mean in all previous world cups, many games - like say 10 or 15 - would be played. Isn't this the first time that only 3 games were played in finals instead of 10-15?

First 2 were drawn. Magnus won the 3rd one. The third game was tie breaker, if it ended up in a draw then both Magnus and Prag would have been declared joint winners. Magnus had White in 4th game which means he played for a draw.

It's actually 2. If first 2 games had a winner in one of them, there wouldn't be a 3rd game.
