There was no such deal about Kashmir. Princely states would be allowed to choose between the two states and independence. There is no automatic claim to Pakistan of everything Muslim. It was upto India and Pakistan to play politics and get as many states as possible. Needless to say, Pakistan failed and so did India with respect to Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan did the same thing with Junagadh, they got accession, but they could not stop India from taking over the state. When Pakistan could not get a state which acceded to them, how the hell did they imagine to get Kashmir which acceded to India? The accession itself was a tricky decision by the king whose thinking was pretty much on the lines of joining Pakistan and independence. And the whole blame for forcing the king's accession lies on Pakistani politicians.

The OP was doing so well until the author -- and they do this unfailingly -- gave in to his own hateful agenda with the gratuitous Arab bashing. What is it with some people that, in the same breath that they advocate cultural harmony and inclusiveness, they throw in their own bigotry to spoil the whole premise?

The fact is that both IVC and Arabic culture, along with Persian, Turkic and other cultures, have an influence on Pakistan and they are part of our cultural heritage. Arabic is the central language in Islam and you cannot understand the Qur'an and namaaz for yourself unless you understand Arabic. There is nothing to be ashamed of in learning Arabic, just as there is nothing to be ashamed of in learning English.

That aside, the OP makes a valid point that it is entirely possible for people to embrace disparate histories as part of our heritage.

The Islamic civilization was extremely glorious & is a reminder of a time when Muslims were tolerant, progressive, & innovative.

However, I don't want Pakistanis to claim the inventions & discoveries of Arab & Persian Muslims as their own. Although, there is nothing wrong with them taking pride in the fact that it was Muslims who invented & discovered lots of things in the past.

Pakistan needs to encourage creativity & innovation. Learning about the Arab Islamic & Greco-Roman civilizations & adopting & building upon their good values will help us foster an environment that leads to scientific & technological progress.
