It didn't crash in vain. The Mirage 2000 was training how to successfully dodge the incoming HQ-9P missile. The pilot succeed his mission goal. No Indian Air force was hit by the simulated missile. Medal for the pilot for the successful tactic, just fly very very low!

So he is a HQ9 dodger

I think the crash rate of indians is declining despite still being one of the highest in the world
