A dangerous trajectory

Still need more opinions on this? :D

Denial of reality is strong with this crowd.
The issue is that you're an expat. While that doesn't invalidate your opinion in the slightest my solicitation is to see how widely shared (or admitted) your opinion is among Pakistanis themselves.

As I said, denial of reality is a national strategy, but it does not change the trajectory.

We have yet to try a genuine Presidential Democracy. Make voting compulsory for all 18+.

This Parliamentary Democracy is not for us ...

Pakistans system has naturally evolved over time, we saw great progress under Musharraf and PPP (I despise them so im only speaking from a legal perspective), that momentum has stagnated naturally under a traditionalist/conservative government but its clear that Pakistans system has changed a lot even in the last 10 years.

Maybe under a new govenment in 2018 we will see even more progress, so its good to be optimistic.

The denial of reality is surely something better than sugar coating the reality or presenting a double standard for "reality". A crowd that is made of people who are man enough to say what they feel like here is better than any "intellectual" hiding behind the cloak of being a "progressive thinker" while his/her posts else where shows the typical scum mentality. Just saying...... One should be bold enough to come out in the open and admit to what he have been doing wrong, specially since he have been preaching the same for YEARS!!:D

A strategy of denial perhaps is better than the strategy of deception!! Of not being able to say what you think you are just because one need to fool people around him.

Pakistans system has naturally evolved over time -
What has been "natural" about it, exactly?

Do you still need more opinions, eh @Solomon2 ? :D
Oh yes, especially since not everyone I've solicited has replied or replied at length.

The "Presidential Democracy" would have what features, exactly? Checks and balances like the American system? Secular or "Islamic"? Would it operate only via laws or also outside of them, as Pakistan currently does? How would control of the armed forces work? And the legal system - would there be room for Urdu, Sindhi, Pasto, etc. or would it still be all in English?

This intellectual minority has the same four choices the other minorities have: conform, adapt, leave, or die. Any deviation from the prescribed thoughts is simply not possible.
We should adopt this.

Sure, I am in no hurry.

The same poster said elsewhere on PDF what he really wants: "Select a khalifa".

We should adopt this.

Please go right ahead.

Oh, and @Verve? Today might be a good day to recall Jinnah's Fourteen Points.

You a NOT a stakeholder Mr Jew.

There's no point me wasting energy discussing Pakistan any further with you or at your request.

You carry on with whoever is willing. You've got a few pessimistic toads here already who will happily oblige pushing your agenda.
