9/11 Families 'Ecstatic' They Can Finally Sue Saudi Arabia

So we should be able to sue the US for drone attacks?

And can Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Lebanon, Syria, Chile, Cambodia, Philippines, Somalia, Bosnia and Libya now sue the US for attacks as well?

Indeed, let them cry oceans for all I care. KSA should not pay anyone for something they as a country/government have nothing to do with.

True, they only end up wasting their own judicial time and money. KSA has no obligation to heed decisions of foreign civil suits.

.
US federal courts are the most laughable courts in the world. These families have also sued Iran for its supposed role in 9/11, and US federal judges ordered to compensate these families with billions of Iranian money frozen in US banks.

If you think only KSA is about to lose money; Iranian money is in danger too.

This is what you can expect:

Judge nails Iran, Al Qaeda for 9/11 with $6 billion penalty in lawsuit

A judge Monday awarded 9/11 relatives $6 billion in their suit targeting Al Qaeda and silent partner Iran for complicity in the heinous plot that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Manhattan Federal Magistrate Judge Frank Maas’ ruling is the first to hit those responsible for the attacks with civil penalties, which would be due to 110 survivors and to the estates of 47 victims that are parties to the suit.

Plaintiff Ellen Saracini’s husband, Victor Saracini, was captain of United Airlines Flight 175, which struck the south tower of the World Trade Center.

“It’s hard being happy, but I am happy about it,” said Saracini, of Yardley, Pa. “But it opens up old wounds. We were never in it for a lawsuit. I wanted to know what happened to my husband.”

Last year, Federal Judge George Daniels ruled that 9/11 was not just the work of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban regime that gave them safe haven.

Daniels found that Iran, its Grand Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and the regime’s Lebanese proxy Hezbollah aided the attacks.

Iran concealed hijackers’ travel through the country and could have prevented them from entering the U.S., while an Iranian government memo suggested Khamenei knew of the plot in May 2001.

Investigators also believe that Iran helped Al Qaeda members escape Afghanistan after 9/11 and provided some safe haven. The 9/11 commission cited the findings and said they merited further investigation.

Whether the plaintiffs will see a penny is unclear.

Bin Laden died cut off from his family’s wealth, while Al Qaeda is on its last legs and the Taliban remains at war with the U.S.

That leaves the families’ legal team to seek seizure of Iranian state assets overseas, which they say fund terror worldwide.

Bin Laden is connected to the royal family

How exactly WAS "Osama bin Laden" connected to the House of Saud?

Or are you talking about the highly respected Bin Laden family or the Saudi Binladin Group considered the largest construction firm in the world?

Bin Laden family - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Saudi Binladin (or Binladen) Group (SBG) (Arabic: مجموعة بن لادن السعودية‎ Maǧmūʿat Bin Lādin al-Saʿūdiyyah) is a multinationalconstructionconglomerate and is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Considered the largest construction firm in the world, Saudi Binladin Group recently signed a US$1.23 billion contract to construct the tallest building in the world, Kingdom Tower in Jeddah.

Osama bin Laden is half Yemeni and half Syrian btw. Only born in KSA. Osama bin Laden was stripped off his citizenship in 1994 and many of his followers were called political dissidents in the West and many lived in the West all while they were wanted men in KSA and called terrorists. See the interview of Prince Bandar bin Sultan who talked about this openly.

Osama bin Ladens father became rich by starting a construction firm that gained a great share of the market in KSA from the early 1930's until his death in 1967. Later his building empire was divided among his huge family and they own it to this day.

Osama bin Laden is 1 member out of nearly 2000 family members (if not more). His remaining family had nothing to do with him or his project.

Fat chance. The possibility of winning the suit is next to nil. These people will never see a dime.
If a sovereign state can be sued, the might US will be broke.

This decision was made by a court of a country that has no jurisdiction over SA.
The Americans are getting more and more stupid each day.

@Hazzy997, I said less dependent not independent and planning is done before the fact not after the fact.

Yes I know you said less dependent, but we get it from Iraq without paying nothing. And are less dependent in the notion that we have available reserves but we work this thing over time so it stays balanced because we don't want to use them up until necessary.

The bottomline is the calculus is changing...

At the end of the day this ruling from one a few judges in some federal court is not worthy anything. They don't have any legal authorization to make such an demand. So this is actually not news that has any importance.

9/11 committed by a few arabs (probably Saudi citizens) but how does that give a right for anyone to sue Saudi Arabia? - this is another from the long list of Bull cr@p foisted on the world by the so called "upholders of human rights and sufferings".
