71% of Indians cannot afford a healthy diet: CSE Report

Funny how poverty is rising in India with high GDP growth and low population growth while a country stuck at $1500 per capita gdp for half a decade is one of the richest on earth thanks to Seepek🙃.

Atleast our elite invest money back to our economy which generates employment and economic growth.

While the much of the richest guys in our neighbourhood are politicians or owners of real estate companies and not industrialists, poverty and inequality much?

Won’t waste my time who’s going to spam the same thing on loop

I dont wanna get involved in whose is bigger debate because poverty is sad and sickening no matter where it exists.

However I would like to make one comment. Indian Modi media certainly comes up with the most BS news in the world.

Ambani and Adani are two of the biggest RSS supporters and routinely come up with this BS of billions of investments to prop up Modi regime. Please do show me what work is actually being done by these two on the ground.

They come up with investments to make profit, thats the basic thing every company does which is listed on stock market. How difficult is it to grasp it? If their stocks don’t give desired RoI then investors will start selling their shares bringing it’s value down.

We should concentrate on our country:

Dozens of people are dying due to Hunger/starvation even infant children. They don't have water to drink.

mrso mrso sind na deso. A khu$ra has the slogan "I'll die for sindh" meanwhile people have hunger all around!

Do you have a non-wiki source that is credible to back up your above claims? wiki can easily be manipulated.
Do you really expect any sanity or worthy response from these unemployed call centre clowns.... They spend an average of 15 hours on PDF any day. Usually massaging each others Buttocks.
Most Indians never stop gloating and fancy themselves in same league as say China, Japan, South Korea etc. But when reality bites their bench mark is always Pakistan. Its just as well the source in OP is Indian else these head wobblers would be claiming that some gora jealous of India shinning has written it.
So as Gangus will say... Mention not.

Doesn't change the fact that India has the most poverty in the world.
May be in some northern states, where fertility is very high. Big family is the main factor with one earning and feeding the rest. In next decade you will see falling population and better inequity like in China. In some states of India, the fertility has fallen below replacement value of 2. Two earring parents taking care of one child will be the norm like in China. It is already happening in the south because of urbanization and is happening at a lower pace in the gangetic plains of north because they are mostly agriculture reliant states.

. .
We shouldn't gloat about this... Given our present circumstances, those in glass houses...

Over 1.7 million Indians die every year due to diseases that can be attributed to dietary risk factors, said a CSE report. (Representative image)

Benefits of having a Trillion Dollar Economy, spending Billions on defence to protect it's citizens, yet nearly Two Million Indians die every year due to lack of decent food.....All hail Modi.

but superpower indians will say this amounts 0.11% of thier GDP....

Until last year I used to read this sort of reports and get really concerned about India. This year I moved back to India after decades and find this and similar reports thoroughly wrong - everything I go deep into their data and methodology I find either amateurish efforts or in some cases outright dishonesty.

I am frequenting several villages in the outskirts of Bengaluru since Feb this year and the average diet is just fine quality, nutrition and cost. In fact it is the idiots in the city paying 10 times what they should to eat unhealthy Dominos and corn chip nachos over spiced up cheese of questionable origin.

Poverty exists, bad diet exists 71% can't afford is not at all believable. And then read the very 1st paragraph and you see the problem. - their idea of healthy diet is the American definition. Villager in Tamul Nadu is not going to spend money buying almonds and pistachios, he gets his protein from his meat or other ways and his D3 from the sun.

I suspect situation is bad in the North. South India seems like a different country.
