In USAF language, we use the word 'mishap', and a Class A mishap is the worst. Class A is when the event cost more than $2 millions, or worse, and/or flight crew is lost or permanently disabled. For example, on the F-117 early yrs, a ground mishap that caused damages to the 'stealth' coating in excess of $2 millions to repair -- materials and manpower -- would be a Class A.

I do not like to opine on any aviation mishap, military or civilian, especially if it involved an airborne event. Too many variables and the generic 'pilot error' is too emotionally charged. If it is an American (or Western) pilot, many people would immediately jump to 'pilot error' as more a national insult than objective analysis. My reservation about these events are known on this forum. In the end, most people do not have the patience to wait for the investigation report and the thread eventually forgotten. Those who insulted US got their jollies.

Yes, the same irregulars which recently spanked you in Afghanistan in the joke "War"on Terror, downed over 500 helicopters, dozens of jets and killed thousands of your troops. That too despite the full support of NATO, a trillion dollar military budget and a flat and easy terrain like Afghanistan as opposed to the 6000m tall mountains that our boys were fighting in.

But obviously they were no match for the Vietcong jungle people who downed 10,000 American aircraft . American pilots just don't know how to remain airborne. Any tom dick or harry with a Machine gun can bring down an American jet. Now stop humiliating yourself further, i can't do it anymore , its too painful.
