7 American fighter jets crashed in 2 months

Well no shit, 1971 was war time  Should i bring up the Vietnam war? I believe the number of US aircraft(jets, helicopters, others) downed was 10 multiplied by a thousand.

Was there a war in 2019? The IAF crashed 8 in Feb-March 2019. India shot down its own helicopter - does that count?

10 in May-June 1999 - was there a war then?
Yup supa powa India still winning! :coffee:

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:. Yes you fool there indeed was a war in May-June 1999. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kargil_Wa

Now you have embarrassed yourself enough for today. Tomorrow, please let us all know the number of US jets lost in the Vietnam war. I will make it easy, it was 10 multiplied by a 1000.

When you become a baby sitter of India, it has to happen...

Some irregulars with no air support on a mountain - you call that a war? Supa Powa India lost three aircraft in Kargil "war". BTW 7 lost over two months in 1994 and 2002 and India keeps winning.

Lets face it India is a mighty vedic supa powa.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Yes, the same irregulars which recently spanked you in Afghanistan in the joke "War"on Terror, downed over 500 helicopters, dozens of jets and killed thousands of your troops. That too despite the full support of NATO, a trillion dollar military budget and a flat and easy terrain like Afghanistan as opposed to the 6000m tall mountains that our boys were fighting in.

But obviously they were no match for the Vietcong jungle people who downed 10,000 American aircraft :rofl::rofl::rofl:. American pilots just don't know how to remain airborne. Any tom dick or harry with a Machine gun can bring down an American jet. Now stop humiliating yourself further, i can't do it anymore :lol:, its too painful.

. .
US is operating thousands of different type of aircraft in different theater at the moment. US wont mind few planes as long as their pilots are safe. Their air force is the backbone of their defense.

.
No not yet we will have to crash seven a month for a few years to catch up with supa powa India.

Dear sir, do not troll, you are part of think tank for a reason. Thinking in tank is not expected from you.

On topic, there is a difference between peace time crash and loss in war.

7 losses in 2 month may be a new low for USA, but i'm sure USA must be maintaining lowest numbers of crash rate per 1000 hour of flights.

@gambit we need your expert comments.

My reply on these events have always been the same -- wait for the investigation.

I know that what I said is unpopular considering the reality that an investigation WILL take months, if not a couple yrs, to complete. Everyone want at least an opinion, if not a declaration, that will go 'my' way or 'his' way or 'their' way. Every mishap must be investigated and its conclusion cannot be based upon previous events. We will look for similar environments inside and outside the cockpit, are the pilots have parity in terms of experience and training, are the equipment in flight capable status, and so on. Only then would we collate the data and make a conclusion.

Thanks,
My question was more about statistics. Is is available in public domain and will you be able to shine light for us to see something?

This is absurd comparison.

1971 Indo-PAK War duration = 13 days
Vietnam War duration = 1961 - 1973 (4380 days)

Indian fixed-wing aircraft losses (1971) = 71 (5.46 per day)
Pakistani fixed-wing aircraft losses (1971) = 43 (3.30 per day)

USAF losses in Vietnam War = 2221 (0.50 per day)
USN losses in Vietnam War = 854 (0.19 per day)
USMC losses in Vietnam War = 271 (0.06 per day)
Total = 3346 (0.76 per day)

Vietnam War started in 1955 actually - statistics of losses-per-day will drop further.

Do your homework at the least.

This is off-topic but Facts & Figures are essential. General knowledge consideration if you will.

They most probably gave old F-16s to rookies to straighten their hands.

This is off-topic by the way.

Doesn't matter when the war started. US joined the war in 1965, before that all they did was send a few thousand advisors there to support the puppet govt. In any case, 1971 was 2 countries with almost equally matched airforces fighting against each other. Vietnam war was the entire might of the US airforce bombing the poorly armed vietcong fighting with machine guns and rocket lanchers. In any case, i never brought up this topic.

Sorry but US joined the war in 1955 (unofficially) and made it official in 1961. This was the year when major deployment (and engagements by extension) commenced. Statistics are to be FAIR.

Pardon? Vietcong wasn't poorly armed by any stretch of imagination. It was a well-armed and well-funded military force with a functioning Air Force of its own. USSR was providing all manner of assistance to it with support of China.

From where those MiGs were coming? From the moon?

EMPHASIS: Much of the American military occupation was concentrated in the "South."

Point is - when you are making an argument, get it right at least.

There is no argument, I am simply having fun with the American guy who is easily triggered and fun to play with. I taunted him a bit about the recent crashes and he went back all the way 50 years back and started bringing up combat losses. He started the stupidity, i merely went on with it.
