6 surprises that greet a Pakistani in India

One of the most famous British chefs Gordon Ramsey, an ardent critic of vegetarianism remarked after about a couple of months stay in India
"Its hard to see how a person from west can turn to vegetarianism, but if someone wants to, India is probably the only place to be."
Have you seen the series where he travels to India?

This one could be a little more than a surprise – a shock for many Pakistanis, in fact.

I signed a declaration as part of the entry process on the Indian side of the Wagha Border to state that I was not carrying any contraband items like drugs or weapons, etc. That’s commonplace but the check list also included ‘beef and beef products’. I was worried about what I had eaten for breakfast that morning, lest they make me walk through some special scanner.
What???? Is this guy serious?

my grandfather used to work in Lahore in Mall Road 1943-1947. We are south Indians. He sent my grandma and my aunts and dad back to south india about 3-4 months before the partition based on news. He and his friends (also southies) came by boat and foot into india. he left behind some property, but had his life. :)..

Same stories everywhere, my Grand father had businesses in 4 locations. 2 in today's India, 1 in Kashmir and 1 in today's Pakistan, at the time of Partition he was at one of his Indian location so he went to Kashmir quickly sold any of the assets he had there (whatever he could), and quickly came to Pakistan, so basically lost most of the business. He had cut his house in Pakistan in half to give the other half to a Hindu friend long before partition, and after partition gave it to a Muslim family that migrated from India during partition, as he was so sad for his friend that he didn't wanted to take over that part of the house. He had business rivals (Muslims) where one of them tried to kill him when he was taking a bath in a nearby river (After the partition). I am sure there will be stories of Muslim Hindu friendship across the border too, and there are stories of Hindu vs Hindu enmity there as well, but any issue between a Muslim and Hindu became more controversial and ignited the situation more and more, though there were definite issues at that time but now we should move on and look for ways to better the life of those common people. We have to figure out our failures that lead to the no tolerance situation in pre-partition India, i will say mostly due to tolerant people (Muslim and Hindus) not standing up to non- tolerant people. Pakistan doesn't host as many Hindus as India has Muslims there, and Pakistan doesn't have as many issues as India has among Hindus and Muslims, so the burden falls on our open minded Hindu fellows to strive for the struggle rather than Muslims.

Chicken comes ‘fully dressed’ in India! I don’t really know what this signboard really meant but ‘meaty displays’ are a sensitive issues there.

i too never understood what "dressed chicken" means but i suppose it is masala covering.

I wasn't talking about the article, but the sentence I marked in red. The beef declaration!
Yes now they added in pre-visa condition that the passenger from Pakistan give written declaration for the above (That’s commonplace but the check list also included ‘beef and beef products’.)
