What's new

5g technology operation is to begin in India this year.

I don't think India actually needs 5G. The amount of even 3G expensive phone users in India proportionally is a lot lower than in countries with 'spendy' mentalities like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

A lot more Indians are looking for simple economical solutions like extremely cheap phones (often local assembled phones assembled from lowest grade OEM components sourced from third-tier companies in China) to conduct basic tasks rather than requiring showcase phones with Gigabyte bandwidth which is super expensive thanks to 'super-opportunist' (dhokeybaaz) Indian Cellphone providers. Most people (an overwhelming majority) haven't gotten past 3G yet in India, much less 5G - no offense.

The number of takers for these advanced high-bandwidth services (5G) in South Asia is minuscule, even more so in India.

Normally I don't reply to trolls or to people who only likes to bash without basis, you should read about Inda being one of the highest growing markets for Smart Phones, being said that, your remark of people not even 3G ready turns futile.

5G is not just a speed boost it's a new concept which is still under development. You won't see 5G implementation until you see intelligent devices around you communicating with internet on their own.

Yes - highest growing markets for Smart Phones, but only (ahem) 'economical' ones. Cellphone penetration is 88% in India (Bangladesh is next highest in South Asia at 85% despite having much lower per capita GDP).

I am not trolling when I say that India is disproportionately not a high-roller cellphone market. Unlike China or ASEAN markets - that is. Especially considering incomes lately.

You middle-class urbanite Indians don't have any clue about the real India in tier-4 towns and villages, which is the majority of your market.

Even economical phones are good.

Here's the cheapest 3G phone for 888 bucks.

The next cheapest is 1800 bucks. So it is affordable.

The 'majority' of the market is irrelevant. What's important is the humongous middle class which can afford 4G. And this middle class will keep growing.
