We eat fruits, vegetables that plants offer in a symbiotic model. We eat leaves like palak and Methi.

Which is why orthodox hindus do not eat roots (potato, garlic etc.), stem etc of plants which will "kill" the plant.

Muslims won't become less muslims if they stop eating beef. By the way in Arab there were no cows. The more emphasis on cow meat is to hurt Hindu sentiments prevails in Muslims of South Asia. Muslims specially in Pakistan must learn to respect other religious views.
