44 rivers of the northern region dying

Sure, please do that after they dam the Brahmaputra

China begins building dam on its side of the Brahmaputra

A China built dam will not create an adverse effect on the ecology of Bangladesh provided they build a power station, too. Water will be running down almost evenly throughout the year. Of course, the shark India is there to withdraw all these downstream water in the dry season to speed up the desrtification of Bangladesh.

.
Isnt Bangladesh prone to be one of the first nation under water? Year by year, the sea is taking Bangladesh land away, where I saw a documentary on it.

Indians should keep on praying and keep on withdrawing water so that BD goes under water faster than the world is thinking. You should start a year-long festival to celebrate this future prospect.

 Fence will complete in another few months....
Let them try,BSF is ready with Rifiles

Contrary to what they themselves think, Indians are stupid not to know that no river can be fenced. So, BD population in our NE will keep on going to their rightful lands in the Indian NE. Assam is our and will remain ours. We will change the map of the subcontinent once more. You don't get any land transit, your NE comes to its knees and joins us.

Thats not big problem as they will spare water for us after fulfilling there need compare to india which has more water then its need but not coming to e
efficient use . we need our portion of international river water

India has more arable land than even China, which is three times its size. India's thirst for water will never quench from the existing rivers.

It's only hope is better management of water, and hence the dams. Just last year we all saw what poor management and lack of dams did to Pakistan.

Whatever you want to say will not affect India's policies regarding its dams inside its territory. And if other countries are affected, what do you think bilateral diplomatic relations are for?

What if India re builds the dams/ barrages after the war ?

It is sad to see the levels of the Brahamputra at Guwahati these days. India does not generate the water it only passes thru.

It would be worth considering for lower riparian states to devise ways to prevent rivers from flowing into the sea - diverting water from the mouth of the rivers inland thru canals & other water ways.

It is time to think over all the effects on ecology if the quarreling countries start building barrages and dams one after another. Farakka has already created multi-faceted problems in Bangladesh. One of them is the siltation of rivers. If a barrage is built acroos the Padma tby BD to stop water from flowing into the Sea will only put more sediments in the river bottoms. It will be an eclogical disaster, which will bring about an economic disaster. Nature knows how to take revenge on the perpetrators who destroy it, but it takes a little time to know about the effects.

.
Why are we debating this? BD gets her fair share of water from Farakka as ratified by Farrakka water treaty between Republic of India and Republic of Bangladesh in 1998. The feeder canal which connects Ganga to Hoogly has capacity of 45,000 cusec, so even if India wants to draw more water she wouldn't be able to without causing a flood in West Bengal.
