Umm... not sure as to what you are getting at. But most of the things basically boils down to matrix operations only.
Complex problems of weather forecast and Nuclear simulation and other Fluid dynamics study etc almost always are reducible to partial differential equations of certain order. Solving a partial differential equations basically boils down to finding Eigen Values and Eigen Vectors which involves matrices ! :)

Although matrices are pervasive, supercomputing is much more than just solving matrices, first every thing cannot be represented as matrices. Also there is also the question of dealing with uncertainty. How would you represent uncertainty? This is where algorithms/software matters more than the computing power.

Moreover, in today's world of so many computers distributing computing is much more cost effective way of can creating a supercomputers.

India should also focus on making Cheaper supercomputer. Right now i see supercomputer usage monopoly only in Govt research institutes and couple of big companies etc.

If we can make cheap affordable supercomputers, such that different universities and even medium sized companies can afford, we can have an R & D revolution in the nation.

Raw brute force is passe in the world of supercomputing. Supercomputing is becoming more of an art where cleverly created algorithms are more useful than raw computing.

Exactly my point.

it is the lack of funds. Once we have enough funds, no one can stop India in this field in building fastest computing cluster.

For sure.

+no one can stop India but China will give them a you a bloody good run for your money!

Well done India. Are the processors indigenous?

Why has India slowed down since 2008?
