I am okay as long as I avoid contact with eyes - the skin tissue around the eyes can react to salt (googles help) and other chemicals in seas water - probably safer in less polluted waters. That of course excludes UK. Might be going to your country of orgin. My brother came back from Majorca. His family were planning for Turkey but then cancelled after that coup thing in Turkey. He was okay but his wife got all jittery and said kids safety was more important. What about sea water?
Well same in UK. Every school zone had a swimming pool mostly from the Victorian period. Swimming was mandatory - one lesson a week from 5 years to 16 years. Along the way there was a graded system of tests and certs issued. I took all of them and by 12 was fully certified. The top level cert. required you to swim while supporting and extracting a "disabled" student.
And same as Netherlands you have to pay now. By 1990s the Victorian pools required major work as most over over century old. The councils did not have money to build new pools and instead private sector built fancy pools. Now everybody has to use them them. The municipal pools of yore are gone.
