300 buses, trucks to be purchased from India: Muhith

Thanks.

Given the high aspirations shown by the BD chaps here, does that rather ordinary looking bus meet their aspirations?

Or does the fact that it is made in China raises hopes?

I thought it was one of those ancient Indian buses but wasn't sure.

Bangladesh should have been these buses by China.

It would have given a real fillip to the BD morale!

I agree you are from Mohenjodaro!

When India had those, you were riding a buffalo!

And you graduated to these

And they continue to be your 'efficient' Urban Rapid Transit System in your capital city to date and even time!

some are even worse than this, any ways if bd's are getting a good deal somewhere else then they should go for it, we aren't shoving our products down their throats.

.
The difference about those country and India is no
one else cries like a sissy if they sell stuffs to other
countries. The Chinese buses were hugely criticized
at first, they just listened and delivered a better deal.
Pure professionalism not Sissysm!

And for your kind information 300 bus from south korea
and another 300 from china are being imported also,
don't get so witty and pretty all of a sudden.

We do assemble Mercedes Bus in Bangladesh by
rancon motors and Hino RM2 by afftab autos.
Rancon will also assemble Scania. Below are
some BD assembled Mercedes and Hino buses.

The Bodywork had been done by Rancon which looks just fine.

Handful of such mercedes buses are there in bangladesh operated by S Alam and I think rancon motors is the distributor of mercedez buses in bangladesh not assembler. While Mercedes and all other big companies has production , services and other facilities in India for many years.

Where do you get the high interest? India is giving such credit of lines to many countries which were already buying Indian products.

Well, some of the money needed to build the current transit is also borrowed from India. The thing is - our finance minister is not going into the financial details. It just looks very suspicious.

Also, many are saying that India has too much control over the transit (which is valid). All it does is snake through Bangladeshi territory. It's the Bangladeshi tax payer that pays the price in the end.

The current finance minister is a very controversial fellow. Albeit, the most controversial one in the history of Bangladesh. The issues revolving around him are many - not just India.

There are thousands of such trucks sold by TATA in Bangladesh. If I am not mistaken India is the largest number of trucks seller in Bangladesh.

Tata , Eicher , Ashok Leyland ..... Indians.

Good they are from China.

It will educate Bangladesh on what is 'waste economy'.

This will keep the money rolling and the economy will prosper.

Until and unless we would not manufacture our own vehicles and cars, we have to endure these Indian scoffs and their ads. Simple.

Now when we would start?

But the problem is: if it costs more in BD than IN to manufacture transport vehicles then we would never be encouraged to start off our own production, and stop the low class India vehicles coming here.

All I feel is, unlucky!

Sorry ? This was an old news though, now the buses
roll though the highways.

Mercedes-Benz bus to be assembled in Bangladesh

One of the country's leading automobile distributors, Rancon Motors, is to assemble Mercedes-Benz buses in Bangladesh for the first time, in an attempt to tap the growing demand for luxury buses among the long distance coach companies.

“The market for luxurious buses is growing. We hope it's an opportunity to tap the potential,” said Romo R Chowdhury, managing director of Rancon Motors, promoting the Mercedes-Benz brand in Bangladesh.

“We are hopeful to hit the market by June 2009,” he said.

The company, according to its managing director, will be able to cut the price of Mercedes-Benz buses by about Tk 40 lakh to nearly Tk 1.10 crore after the establishment of the assembling plant.

Currently one Mercedes-Benz bus costs around Tk 1.50 crore as it enters Bangladesh in completely built form.

“It will be affordable to many bus companies due to assembling facilities here,” the Rancon MD said.

Rancon Motors, a concern of Rangs Group, took the initiative after it signed commercial vehicles supplying contracts with some local long distance bus operators such as Saudia and S Alam.

“We are facing demands from some other operators because the buses are fuel-efficient,” he said.

Luxurious commercial passenger vehicles made their ways on Bangladesh roads during the late nineties to cope with the changes in the tastes of consumers who are travelling by buses at a growing rate due to faster road communication compared to railway's.

The market for luxurious bus, according to operators, is about 60-80 units a year, and is growing between 15 and 20 percent annually as leading long distance bus companies are shifting their focus to this segment.

At present, operators such as Green Line and Sohag Paribahan are offering services with Scania and Volvo buses on different routes, while Saudia and S Alam have brought Mercedes-Benz buses by forming joint venture.

Operators said none of these brands is assembled here, rather being imported from India and Malaysia.

Local Navana Group, IFAD Autos and Nitol Group assemble Hino, Ashok Leyland and Tata brand buses.

The required investment for establishing a bus assembling plant is lower compared to that for setting up an automobile assembling unit, Romo said.

“We now depend on Malaysian companies to assemble and build the bodies of the Mercedes-Benz buses. The local assembling plant will help us offer lower prices due to cheap labour here,” he added.

Rancon Motors, which currently imports auto parts from Brazil, has already got go-ahead from Mercedes-Benz owner Daimler AG to assemble the bus.

“We have already got the Daimler permission to assemble the bus,” Romo said. “Now we are in talks with a Malaysian bus-body building company to sign a technology transfer agreement.”

Rancon Motors, also distributor of Mitsubishi brand autos in Bangladesh, will initially invest Tk 15 crore to start the plant in Savar, Dhaka and expects to assemble around 10 units of buses a month.

!

No actually it would be mahasthangarh.
And even if we had Buffallos
we didn't hammer a truck to look like a buffalo.

Does it mean that the buses BD is buying from India are luxury buses?

All buses in BD are luxury buses?

Indian long distance buses are Volvo with night sleeping facilities.

And there are also non Volvo, but with less facilities.

It all depends on the pocket.

Now, if in BD you are all rich chaps, go ahead and have this Chinese copycat of a German bus
