2nd Test: Australia v Pakistan at Headingley, Jul 21-25, 2010

well umer amin do not have technique to bat in tests he just keep blockin and blocking it is not if we won that we dont have any mistakes done see what he done got out on 0 when he needed to score atleast 20 to 30 runs which is not big ask in test and he failled keep playing those dots which made bowler to work him out and got him out atleast he should have rotated the strike if not yousuf younis should havee to be brought in remember we are in against home side against england so better prepare for worst

We desperately need a grafter like him.We have had a tradition of having flashy stroke players , but the only true great batsmen that we had were grafters.Occupation of one end of the crease allows stability in the line up and allowsone end to settle down while the otherend scores. It has been the time tested routine of test cricket.

agreed! we need "dheet" batsmen jo aa kar out honay ka naam hi naa le. We need batsmen who can play for 2 days and doesn't matter if he makes only 80 runs in those 2 days. We do not need a stroker who makes 80 runs in 2 hour and then get out before lunch.

This is test cricket we are talking about, we need someone who can stay at the crease for long and i have a hope that Umar Amin or Azhar Ali can be one of those who has temperament to bat for long. Yousuf was a good player no doubt in it, but its time to move forward. If he comes maximum he will play is another 1 year but we need to groom our youngsters now who can become the backbone of our batting side for the next 15 years or so

well sir it is not just being in the crease but in todays cricket it dosent matter if u block one end from other end wickets will falll so better option will be the batsman who stays their and scores runs fairly fastly 3 to 4 runs in over today u got result in test match even if ur batsman stays he still has to make runs every team scores today 300+ runs in a day than why u want batsman who makes 80 runs in a day and if other end batsman keep getting out our team will not even get to 200 mark so please use ur mind for todays cricket not to old days where batsman stays which is boring

well you seems to be a T-20 generation
Sorry mera taste thora pheeka pheeka hai. I like T-20 but in order to play test matches you must have players who could stay at the crease for days and not just one session. Why England, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa and India are good in test cricket? because they have players who can play 200 - 400 balls in a single match. Here we do not have even a single player in our current side who can play and draw the losing match, or who can play 250 balls in a single match.

Thats a very rare case for us. Look at SL in the current match. Sangakara played 335 balls, Jayawardene 244, Paranavitana 221, Samaraweera 121 balls and not out. Thats what we call test players

Look at england and even Australia against Pakistan who were able to stay at the crease for long. Then compare these teams with Pakistan who stay at the crease for a maximum of 50 - 90 balls and that is a story for the best Pakistani batsmen for now. Other lose their wicket before playing 50 balls

Problem is, we have T-20 and ODI players in Test cricket. We need players for test cricket we are talking about test Super Falcon not ODI or T20

yes agreed staying in the crease is good even aussies and SA and england playesr these days score 300+ runs in a day they dont just block for overs and overs they rotate the strike and u see what sri lanka did scored 600+ uns in one and half day sanga and other players not only stayed there but scred runs when oppostion come to bat they have to make more runs than what you made it is not like how many hours did your team stayed at the crease if u score 400 runs in 2 days u will end up loosing more matches because u r bowlers need time to bowl out opposition twice and 400 runs on board i dont think so bowlers have any chance to bowl out theother team twice under 200+

Sir,
if you stay at the crease, runs khud hi aa jaate hain. Par hamara koi player hai joh 200 - 250 balls khelta hon consistantly?

Jumping into the argument i will say that a batsmen has to be mentally strong, which ball to play which to leave and which to block, which foot you wana play on. If a batsmen gets these things right then only a deserving ball will get him out. Our batsmen are poor at making this judgment, they play at deliveries which are ment to be left alone and all kind of wrong choices are made. This is the main reason for the downfall in Tests and ODIs, we always feel that our bowlers have to work harder then the opposition bowlers to take wickets, this is because our batsmen make the worst possible choice in a split second the have while facing a delivery. It all comes down to mental strength and team spirit.

agreed lakin agar batsman rokay tu batsman ka hosla badhta hai usko bowl gapa main khelna padta hai jo umer amin main nahe hai woh ya edge karta hai bowl ko ya miss karta hai
