28th May 1998 - Pakistan a Nuclear Power

Its been 11 years exactly since we became a Nuclear power. How happy we were on the day of 28th May 1998 and see where are we standing today :(

Anyway, Congrats to Pakistan and the Pakistani scientists for making us a Nuclear power that has kept our enemies on shore and defending us from the wrath of the powerful nations.

This is a moment of a proud so lets enjoy this moment

Its been 13 years since Pakistan became a Nuclear Power.

Congratulations Pakistan. Pakistan needs to expand its nuclear program and become the top 3 largest Nuclear Powers on earth. Too many countries have their eye on Pakistan.

im very pleased to say that MY OLDER SISTER came up with this name!
AND THAT IS YOUM-E-TAKBEER!!!!!

Time to stand firm brothers! The tough days are ahead. May ALLAH help the Muslim Ummah, especially Pakistan to defend its honour and dignity.

Yaum e Takbeer Mubarik to all :) ALLAH O AKBAR!

Don't forget who encouraged pakistan to build its first nuclear power plants, and who also founded PAEC, PINSTECH, and SUPARCO, and was one of the greatest minds in Physics of the second half of the 20th century. Without the steps that he took, Pakistan would never have even thought of developing nuclear weapons, except in a dream.

Dont forget Dr Munir Ahmed Khan too.

He is one the architects of the bomb too.

Here is Dr Munir with Dr Salam and Bhutto when they started work on the nuclear program.

In March, 1974, Munir Ahmad Khan called a meeting to initiate work on the atomic bomb. The meeting was attended by, Ishfaq Ahmad, Hafeez Qureshi, and the members of the Theoretical Physics Group comprising Riazuddin and Abdus Salam as the head of the TPG. However, during the meeting the word "bomb" was never used, but the participants fully understood what was being discussed.

The real plan to initiate this program was started during the Multan Conference, the report can be found here.

An office was set up for Salam in the Prime ministers' Secretariat by order of Bhutto.[66] Salam immediately started to motivate and gravitate scientists to begin work with PAEC in the development of fission weapons.[66] In December 1972, two theoretical physicists working at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics were asked by Salam to report to noted Pakistani nuclear engineer, Munir Ahmad Khan (late), then-PAEC chairman.

Look at us, what happend today: terrorisms, suicide bombing, less funded- education, minorities, Shia/Sunni, corrupt Government, bribes, Talibans, OBL safeguards, poverty, electricity, US intervention, many lists unsolved. :frown:

Pakistan seriously need back on the right tracks !

Pakistan already has enough nuclear weapons to act as a deterrence against its enemies. When you have more than 100 nukes, it does not matter if you have 1000 or 1,000,000.

I'm not for completely cutting off nuclear weapons production, but

I think Pakistan should concentrate more on developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes, as that would help solve the power crisis, rather than on nuclear weapons, otherwise it'd be tremendous a waste of money.

Wonderful picture. Look at who we were; smart, educated, talented and ambitious.
Today is just the opposite. We are content with reading 'Pakistan is great' in books without any effort in actually making it great.

We definitely were the best up comers around, just read about us the in the 60's and 70's. The way we were thought of and the way our people used to act was so refined and liked.

Pakistan was on its way to greatness but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse.

Look at the people who created Pakistan.

Look these men up and their achievements.

Dr. Tahir Hussain

Amongst the first scientists who taught and researched in nuclear physics, and produced brilliant scientists about whom he remarked: "From the theory that I taught, my students produced results " it was not an easy job but a colossal task which only unique people could perform and they did wonder”. Dr. Tahir worked with Dr. Rafi in the first Nuclear Research Laboratory and trained a number of young scientists.

He was educated at Aligarh University where he did his MSc with distinction. He accompanied Dr. Mohammad Rafi Chaudhary when the later came to Pakistan in 1948 at the invitation of the Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. At first, he taught Physics at Government College, Lahore, and after some time, proceeded to Oxford University and did PhD in Nuclear Physics. After returning to Pakistan, rejoined Government College, and was elevated to the post of Chairman of the Department of Physics. While he was at Government College, Dr. Tahir was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Azad Kashmir University, Muzaffarabad. Thereafter, he was appointed Chairman, Literacy and Mass Education for some time. Dr. Tahir was associated with the Ministry of Education as Consultant for Science and also worked as Chairman, USA Education Foundation. He has published a number of research papers in journals of international repute.

Dr. Tahir Hussain has contributed in the foundation and development of the first Nuclear Research Laboratory. In the High Tension Laboratory, scientists like Dr. Mand, Dr. Ishfaq, Dr. Mansoor and others worked under his supervision.
