Students stage anti-India demos at KU
Srinagar, October 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the students of Kashmir University (KU) staged demonstrations in the campus to mark their protest against the landing of Indian army in Kashmir on October 27, 1947.Hundreds of students from all departments of the by Fast Free Converter">University assembled outside the Jamia Masjid and took out a protest rally.
The students carrying banners describing the October 27 as “Black Day” and black flags raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
“As this year October 27 falls on Sunday which is a public holiday, we decided to stage the protest ahead of the date,” one of the protesting students told media men.
The students, demanding an end to India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir, marched across the campus before dispersing peacefully. They also demanded withdrawal of Indian troops from the occupied territory.
The students also condemned the arrest of civilians in Gool area of Ramban, calling for their immediate release. They deplored that Indian troops involved in the killing of four civilians in Gool were roaming free while innocents were being targeted.
It is to mention here that four people were killed and over forty others injured in Gool on July 18 when the troops had opened indiscriminate fire on the demonstrators who were protesting against the desecration of Quran by the troops.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of police recently arrested the Imam of a local mosque in Gool, Qari Shabir Ahmed, and his brother, Abdul Lateef, accusing them of instigating people against the troops.
