Lucknow used to have this problem. In India shia and sunni generally gloss over their differences as they have to contend with a much larger hindu ''threat''.

But last six months under SP have shown clear indication that that ''threat'' is not felt anymore as the government seems fully supportive and some internal scores can be settled now.

Does anyone know what folks already on the Indian side called the hindus who migrated from Pakistan into India during partition ??

They are known as Refugees (pronounced as Rafoojis in punjabi lingo)... just that... We have a whole colony in my town of families that were uprooted from Pakistan and shifted to India in 47... But this was a term used back in 80s because some of them were on some kind of support and rehabilitation etc... When that generation gradually disappeared and the new emerged, I haven't seen the new generation even mentioning that fact. So, there is no difference anymore as all Indian citizens are equal as per our constitution.

At least in my state, I do not know of a single case where emigratees (from what now is Pakistan) who became Indian citizens are treated any different from ANY other Indian (except for those who have govt mandated reservation like SC/ST etc)
