When Chen Miner was the minister of the Propaganda Department of Zhejiang Province, Xi Jinping was the secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee.

When Chen Miner studied at the Central Party School, Xi Jinping was the president of the Central Party School.

He was a strong supporter of Xi Jinping when he was the secretary of Guizhou Provincial Party Committee.

When Sun Zhengcai fell, Xi Jinping appointed him as the Secretary of Chongqing Municipal Party Committee to deal with the aftermath.

He is too close to Xi Jinping. If he becomes the successor, it means that Xi Jinping's right continues.

I know he is a confidant of Xi, but future Chinese leader shouldnt be choosen just from a small circle of current leader, if the party let Xi and Xi choose to do that, its really bad for the country. The top leader should be choosen basically based on ability, performances and conducts. Maybe they will pick someone from current politburo and provincial secretary such as Shanghai boss and promote him to the standing politburo for the next 5 years.

Hu Chunhua also served as the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. He is the undisputed leader of the next generation of the Communist Youth League. This makes him have a large number of outstanding talents to use. Hu Chunhua also served as Vice Premier of the State Council, and was very familiar with various departments of the Central Government and government affairs. The CCP trained Hu Chunhua according to the successor's version from the very beginning.

Not bad on the results, definitely good gains in
anti-corruptions, anti-poverty where hundred of million of Chinese are lifted out absolute poverty, anti-pollutions where the air is much cleaner and sky bluer in many big cities such as Beijing I noticed over the past few years, new green technologies taking forms, much needed armed forces reform near completion and BRI that good strategically for China and other countries trade and connections are taking form. Some might be somewhat disappointed with the slower economic growth when compared to Hu and Jiang times, but thats the natural progression China has to go from labour intensive industries to high tech industries and go from middle income to high income country.

I doubt anyone is going to know, really.
But I suspect it's infighting between different CCP factions, Xi's faction vs. Jiang Zemin's faction (Hu was one of Jiang's men).

I'm surprised how an old man like Jiang Zemin can still hold such a position and power in China, he's freaking over 90 year old already.
