Think we are too liberal for our training program here in the US. I counted at least 5 or 6 Gold Medallist from other country were trained in US. You got

Joseph Schooling who won over Phelps which was trained in the US,
Greece Stefanidi of women pole vault were trained in Geneva OH,
Monica Puig of Puerto Rico is trained in Florida, well, she is a Puerto Rican so she is also an American......
Mo Farah the Great Britain was trained in Portland OR.
Imbee Park of S Korea was trained and reside in California.
Katinka Hosszú Swam with USC in NCAA Championship and before she get on US Training program, she won 0 gold in 2 previous olympics

Many more gold, silver and bronze medallist also participate in NCAA division sport. Maybe it's time to prioritize the training for American first and have a American first policy?

But in all, I still think we did not push enough resource to train our athletes in the States. We need to do a China to make sure our own good talent did not go wasted.

True, but closing doors can work against us. For instance the more we get other nations involved in say swimming the less of a chance these events will be dropped by the Olympics.

Not saying we should shut the door on anyone, but we should prioritise the order of business, we need to focus on our own people first, the Aussie make a mistake by selling their coach and training regime to the Chinese swimmer, and the Aussie pay for it with the drop of almost all but 1 medallist remaining. That is just because these Chinese Swimmer pays 3 times as much to these coach than the commonwealth of Australia.

We should have ask these coach that took on a foreigner for money, they should also take in one or two local talent, much like being a lawyer, sometime you need to do pro-bono stuff.
