I think no one can catch the US now, and I think China cannot catch up with Team GB, and the gap will stay 2 gold medal apart.

We have a good Olympic game this year, slightly behind 2012 game but overall we are still going strong, with China and Russia faltered and team GB made a break through well, I will consider retaining similar amount with host game are a break thru.

I'm not counting any chickens until they are hatched in terms of UK/China...stranger things have happened.

Well, My prediction came true........Team GB still edging out China for 2 more medal......

Don't think China can retake second spot now, the Chinese aren't really good at any of the remaining event.

Well, depending if China can win gold for the last event today.....

I'm not changing my position...and yes they have closed within 1.

Well.......

The Last day only have 11 event, China was in the final of only 2 open event, one is marathon, which is basically African Dominated event, another is Mountain Biking, which is traditionally goes to the European.

On the other hand, Team GB also in the final of the 2 event, plus boxing super heavy weight which the team GB is the incumbent champion, so their chance are looking quite good.

But of course, everything can happen, just the odds is stacking against China at the moment, because China need to win both Open event (Which is hard) and at the same time, team GB need to lose their boxing match for China to overtake. Otherwise Team UK will still claim second spot for a count back on silver medal if team GB and China are even Steven.

Team GB is physically not going to defeat team USA in this Olympic, there are 12 medal up for grab the last day and the deficit are 16.Even if team GB won all 12 events (one of them being Men's basketball........) Team USA will still edge ahead with 4 medal :)

But it most likely team GB will edge out China and become world number 2 sporting nation...
