Is there any importance of these petitions In White House Website, Would any action be taken if the petition reaches its Goal?? I see a petition of "Stop the Drone Strikes" And it has more than 4000 Signatures??

BTW that Louisiana Petition has More than 12000 Votes in Just 5 days!!

If a petition gets over 25,000 votes, it is reviewed by the White House staff, sent to the appropriate experts, and finally an official response is issued.

They would need all 49 additional states to agree to their removal from the Union on top of a majority within their own state with a referendum.

If they cannot achieve that then they can try and revolt but it will not be pretty.

Conclusion- It is damn near impossible for a state to secede.

Those people who want to vote California out are fools. They do not realize that the people they feel are Heathens today are the decedents of people who they had no problems annexing in the past.

It is just a case of annoyance that Californians do not agree with their views.

A few ten years ago, Department of Defence ran a Civil War senario where they used the 1861 Civil war as template as some sort of continuity planning.

Result show in effect, you only need about 45% of state agree on a seceeding, there is a great chance to break the union. If big state like California and Texas are on the seceeding side, the number of states require are down to 30% as they have the most of the National Armed Force (National Militia and National Guard)

In the case of Civil war, regular armed force (the 4 branch of US military) are disbanded and state force will fight it out, it's not something you want to imagine if you are a soldier.
