2 Missing After INS Betwa, Guided Missile Frigate Of Indian Navy, Tips Over

Any detail w.r.t. 2014 investigation report because such things are not cursed but definitely an error causes the incidents. Any details?

In 2014 INS Betwa ran aground or collided with an unidentified object while approaching the Mumbai naval base.

The sonar dome mounted on the hull of the frigate commissioned in 2004 cracked, leading to faulty readings and ingress of saltwater into sensitive equipment.

The damage, which prompted a board of inquiry, has rendered the ship ineffective.

Hence It is an accursed ship ; was undergoing repairs and met with an accident again

. .
Not old by any means as commissioned just over ten years earlier.

''INS Betwa, a 3,850 tonne, 126-metre-long Brahmaputra-class guided missile frigate, was commissioned into the Navy in 2004. It's packed with missiles, weapons and sensors.''

Conflicting report. According to Wiki, It was commissioned in 2004, again below it has been written that It had participted in Operation cactus in 1988.

.
A loss is a loss, no matter how small. IN should learn from this mistake, a through enquiry should be done to find out the exact reason for this mishap.
I think if the damage is extensive then no need to save the hull. Just scavenge all the missiles and equipment from this ship and transfer it to new one and scrap the hull.
However this does not reduce the operational capabilities of the navy by much.

Most of the material if not damaged then likely to have been flooded by now.

This was the equipment failure of the Dockyard ; so the responsibility lies with the dock yard

Ships are stripped of weapons and fuel before entering the dry dock

Problem will be with the rudder, propeller, fin stabilizers, sonar dome, electronics and hardware

The Navy reassigns the Same name to new warships

Just like INS Vikrant will be reborn again

The launchers and subsystems are not removed, electronics like navigation radar, communications, ecm etc are not removed.
Rest of the ship can be scrapped, But the electronics will be total loss.

.
Oh no! that can't be anything but incompetence.

May the missing sailors be found soonest!
Feel for the families of the people involved

Repairing it will depend on the condition of the hull

They can still use this ship for training purposes

The same equipment has been used earlier also for undocking ships

It was equipment failure ; The dockyards need to upgrade their equipment

. .
Fourteen personnel were rescued from the dry dock and two, including one Navy diver, are missing after INS Betwa, a guided missile frigate and a frontline warship of the Indian Navy, tipped over on Monday during repairs, leading to extensive damage.

The main mast has broken and diving operations have started. The Indian Navy has ordered a court of inquiry into the accident that occurred at around 2 pm. An accident of this proportion has never happened with the Indian Navy. Casualties, if any, could not be confirmed.

Your logic escapes me.

The ship was about to rejoin the service for operational deployment but is now lost.

Yet you say the loss has no impact on IN's combat capability?:enjoy:

The navy's current operational preparedness has taken into account such
out of service ships and assets

Being a large navy we will always have some assets which are not available

yet we recently held a NINE day large naval exercise near Pakistan as a show of strength
where more than 40 ships and sumbarines participated along with Naval fighters
and ASW planes
