I was talking about population, not land area.Land area without population is meaningless. Mongolia is twice bigger than Pakistan in land area with just 3 million people. Will you accept, Mongolia is a more important country than Pakistan? Population decide the electoral power which was so crucial for making Pakistan. Just after the formation of Pakistan, there were 80 member constitutional committee to formulate a constitution. Do you know how many member were from your supposedly the biggest province Baluchistan? Just 1. While East Bengal had 44. So big, empty Baluchistan's importance was nothing in front of East Bengal. Even with all those bigger provinces in land area you had in the west Pakistan, West Pakistan could not generate as much economic output as East Bengal.This tell you something about the relative weight each provinces carried. But west Pakistan was able to dominate East Bengal for 2 reason-

1.military(legacy of British recruitment policy).
2.Jinnah's choosing of capital in Karachi(which ensured that Urdu speaking muslim bureaucrat and industrialists from India would flocked to West Pakistan rather than East Bengal).

So, East Bengal could not take the rightful position in national affairs despite being majority and somewhat more literate and politically conscious than West Pakistan.Thankfully all these mess was corrected in 1971.

Punjabis wanted to deny the natural right of Bengalis to rule and dominate Pakistan. At separation, there was more Bengalis than all the other ethnic groups combined.
If Punjabis allowed Bengalis to rule in 1971, then the country would not have split then, and may even have stayed as a loose federation with the central government only responsible for foreign policy and defence.

Yet some BD ultra-nationalists still don’t stop playing this card. Currently we have a Pukhtoon PM who is the most popular in a long time.

India and BD need to stop using this BS. We are in 2018 now.
