Because he is and idiot and your father was correct. If it had been a 2 sided attack the Indians would've panicked and gotten confused. In that they would've decided that it would've been easy to go east. Which would've given PA to push through Punjab and cut off Kashmir.

Whomever decided to stay put in east pakistan was a traitor and the fact that India anticipated that is ever more likely.
