1965 Biggest Tank Battle since WW II - Pakistani Victory : The Australian

. .
Battle of Chawinda was so bad for the Indians, the Indian tanks columns were divided and suffered from miscommunication, that they started firing on each other thinking the other was Pakistani armored calvary. This according to the Indian commander who led the operation into Pakistan (forgot his name). He wrote this in his account of the battle and decided the attack has failed and Pakistan performed a counter-attack and decimated and pushed back the surviving Indian units back across the border.

look at your official figure of casualties and tanks lost in that battle then comment.

I would really appreciate it if we were a bit more respectful to one another especially in terms of the wars we've fought. It's easy to joke around and shove inflated egos online and another to stand against a man knowing you've to kill him or be killed and then living with that. Pakistanis and Indians fought valiantly there were heroes on both sides. Let's confine the discussions to the politics and history and not upon the character of those men, many of whom are no longer here.

Kill Joy - Saraa Mazaaa Kir Karaa Kar diyaa ! :disagree:

Even at the Dharnas in Defense, you, despite being a 6'5 towering specimen of a He-Man, ran away squealing like a girl the moment the Police came - Always the Pacifist !

Just Kidding, brother ! :)

So hows life treating you ? :azn:

And you've said admirable & wise words above !

.
In all the wars Pakistan won:

The tank battle
The air force battle
The navy battle
The artillery battle
The gun battle
The space battle
The propaganda battle

I wonder how the hell they still managed to lose the WARs!! :D

And I can't forget the humiliating disaster we faced in the 71 war, Pakistan forced us to feed 93000 of them for months; free of cost!! :D

But somehow, I actually started loving their innocence. :smitten:

. .
I studied 18 year in government school in India. I never come across topics related to Pakistan except when i studied a little bit about south Asian countries in my Geography class.
We are not teaching our kids to hate any religion or any country contrary to your test books, which is filled with hating Hindus and Indians.
1965 was neither a victory for Pakistan not Indian. By the way not the tank regiment it was the PAF role which was commended by the world including India.

Hatred towards India doesn't depend on religion or text books as far as India's neighbors are concerned. In Bangladesh for example, text books containing subcontinent history are clearly pro Indian. Yet, many people hate India!!! India's policy towards its neighbors is the main reason of hatred, NOT anti Indian text books ( this is pure BS!!).

Hahah, I wish I were that tall Armstrong, alas :(

Life's good just been a bit hectic and busy thus my absence. How's about you?

A lot of my family fought in the wars actually, my nana was a PAF fighter and WWII veteran, his stories really effected me so I heard about the 65 and 71 war with no illusions of glory but the human cost of war. My nana had actually been involved in encounters with people he had known from India and that haunted him later on. He always said that war for those who order it, those who fight it and those who hear about it is very different. So I guess that just spills over when I see people being so casual about it and using the 65, 71 wars as a device for shallow nationalisms and ego inflation.

PS BTW guys I've posted an article discussing the present crisis of Indian military, here's the article: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00856401.2010.520653 click it, it'll load it's a definite recommend and here's the discussion here: http://www.defence.pk/forums/indian-defence/275686-indian-militarys-officer-crisis-research.html

guys..they r right they won the tank battle but remember
we lost a battle not war! ;)

You lost the 1965 war, India lost the air war and the ground war. PA's overall objective of capturing Kashmir did not succeed but the battles that actually happened were mostly won by PA. It's hard to believe any country that admits they lost the air war (India) yet would still like to argue they won the war. You don't win the war if you lost the air war, it's practically impossible when the enemy has aerial domination over you...PAF was launching ground attacks on Indian columns and ground forces.

Yes go look at them, Pakistan scored a 3:1 kill ratio against Indian army in Battle of Chawinda. It was a crushing defeat for India, India's best First Armored Tank Division which was the pride of India (I don't why) was defeated.

Who said PAF achieved air domination? They merely lost lesser aircraft. Air domination is completely different. IAF was also conducting raids til the end of the war. In fact, attrition rate of IAF was lower than that of PAF.

And yes, pakistan won the 1965 war. All the neutral analysts of the 1965 war must be lying. The whole world is a liar accept the pakistanis. Also bangladesh is still known as East pakistan and pigs fly everyday in the skies of Karachi at 6:30 pm.

Lols okay so How did you win that war when....
All according to neutral sources:
1. Your objective got failed.(Kashmir, as for that war was started by pak).
2. You lost more land.
3. You lost more soldiers.

I guess when one has lost every war he has fought, all he has left to console himself is little battles. That is why Pakistanis keep creating these threads about winning "battles". I really feel pity for their kind.
