"Make threat of war"? I didn't know by sending coast guard vessels to protect one's possessions is a threat of war, unless you mean Japan's recently threaten China of sending warships to Diaoyu or your Aquino arrested Chinese fishermen with a warship. Those two actions were indeed acts of war.

India always maintained that the disputes of SCS and east sea should be solved peacefully and according to international maritime laws.

According to that position of India spratleys and parcel islands should belong to Vietnam and Phillipines respectively.

Chinese always think of some facts which are rosy in the past and forget the glorious past of others. If China can assert the claim on Senkaku with some maps of Japan at the end of 19th century why not Japan.

Fact is China is claiming those Islands from 1970 onwards and after UN found oil reserves there, But the recent evidences shown by Japan nails that Chinese are laying claims based on twisted facts.

If China wants to bully its neighbors and wants to settle the disputes on its own terms first it has to get out the UNCLOS agreement and show to the world how much respect it has for International laws.

OK, since you refuse to understand the chain of events that lead up to the annexation of Taiwan and the Okinawa islands so lets talk about the ground reality here. Now China is patrolling Diaoyu islands as her own properties and what your buddy, Japan, is going to do about them? There's no way Japan can administer the islands alone as it was the case before, with or without the US helps. China has all the time in the world and the longer she waits the better.

Japan has tasted the "soft and peaceful" power of China lately.
Worse for them is the pain is not going to ease soon. My guess is Japan is leaving the islands as they are today: uninhabited and hideout for birds and other animals.

That would be a good move by Japan but realistically she loses the islands for good although China's not going to get them anytime soon. As I said earlier China probably doesn't want the possessions now because her relationship with Taiwan is more important than those rocks.

For Japan the problems are election time politics (which can be as dirty as hell) and her right wingers. She needs to put a gag order in this and let time heals the disharmonious feelings between the two people. She also need to tell the Americans to buzz off because their intentions are not benign and the least they want to see is a buddy buddy China and Japan.

Japan's economy, give its stagnation with the American market for the past three decades, needs the Chinese consumer market to survive, period because her economical base is much higher than all Asian country.
