1960 Chinese map depicted Senkakus as Japanese territory

I guess there is going to no war between China and Japan. Although, there may be tensed relationship between China and Japan unless this issue is resolved.

And, you forget US in the whole equation. US is much bigger Asian player than China ever is.

For now US is the playmaker but in the future Asian have to settle Asian problems, which mean Asian have to united her force with or without China.

.
For us it is not necessary bad at all, to see China and Japan engaging in a dogfight for supremacy in East Asia.

As long as a certain neighbor country is distracted, we can carry out some plans

Asia is a big market and going to much become bigger in future, hence I don't think US is going to relinquish its position as a key player in Asia any time soon, however, in future US has to share the power with other key players in Asia.

The first one is a documented proof and the second one is a third party's opinion. I can show you hundred proofs from the Chinese side if there's a need.

Hmm so some rubbish written by some guys making claims offsets a Chinese map itself? So all US or any country has to do, is hang on for a hundred years but quickly print out a book saying the " XYZ dynasty " claim all of china as belonging to another country. Got IT!

the basis of this , because some chinese guy said it long time ago it is ours.

Well , slap me silly cause AMERICA is now INDIA since Christopher Columbus thought so...

. . .
what worries me and saddens me is... this.... question....

The island of Senkakus is of an area of 7 square kilometres (1,700 acres)... are two great nations like China and Japan let such a tiny Island destroy their economies, starve their people, and be the reason for a 3rd world war which will result in the deal of millions of people?

I hope the answer is a clear NOOOO... humanity has suffered enough already

A:"I own this since many years ago."
B:"Now I take it, your argument is invalid. "
A:" Okay."

The problem is,
Japan took the island by war and the Chinese government "give it up" during the peaceful time.

If you compare the map of ROC with the PRC nowadays, you will see the PRC has lost many territories during the war, but the government never claim most of the territories back.

My opinion is, the Chinese government was stupid.

..................

In 1893, the Empress Dowager Cixi granted the Diaoyu Islands to Sheng Xuanhuai who was the Chief Minister of the Court of Imperial sacrifices at that time. Being also a businessman in the pharmaceutical sector, he was keen on harvesting the plant “statice arbuscula” on the islands. The Chinese used these herbs to manufacture pills to prevent high blood pressure and relieve pain because of dampness. Being thrilled about the effectiveness of the pills the Dowager Cixi awarded three of the disputed islands to the Chinese pharmacologist.251 This decree carried the imperial seal thereby making it official: “The medical pills submitted by Sheng Xuanhuai have proved to be very effective. The herbs used in making the pills are said to have been collected from the small island of Diaoyutai, beyond the seas of Taiwan. It has come to my knowledge that the said official’s family has maintained for generations pharmacies offering free treatment and herbs to destitute patients. This is really most commendable. The three islands of Diaoyutai, Huangwei Yu, and Chiwei yu are hereby ordered to be awarded to Sheng Xuanhuai as his property for the purpose of collecting medicinal herbs. Seal of Queen Mother Cixi

By virtue of this imperial act the three mentioned islands could have become Chinese “property”. At least the Qing Dynasty recorded officially the existence of the islands.

Until the 1894, the Japanese could not make any progress regarding the incorporation of the islands. In a letter of response to the Director of the Prefecture Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Home Affairs Egi Kazuyuki the Okinawa Prefecture Governor stated that no investigation had been carried out so far on the islands. In his request, Mr. Kazuyuki wondered as well whether there was evidence such as old records or folklore that demonstrate the islands belong to our country. The answer of the Okinawa Prefecture was the following:
“…there exist no old records related to the said islands or any transcribed evidence or folklore and legends demonstrating that the islands belong to our territory”
This secret letter conveys a different idea of what is the official Japanese contention published on the web page of the Japanese Foreign Ministry

* The advent of the Sino-Japanese War was instrumental for the Japanese government regarding the incorporation of the Senkaku Islands. The long awaited “suitable moment” had finally arrived. After the outbreak of the war on August 1rst, 1894, China’s military defeat enabled the Japanese Tenno to impose harsh peace condition upon the struggling Qing Dynasty. China lost its territory in Taiwan and on the Liaodong peninsula.

Ok so China know about this island back 18th century, where were China then? It's been 200 years already did China ever claim those island? After 200 years later China wanted back? You can't take back what you don't owned, tough luck buddy.

OK, since you refuse to understand the chain of events that lead up to the annexation of Taiwan and the Okinawa islands so lets talk about the ground reality here. Now China is patrolling Diaoyu islands as her own properties and what your buddy, Japan, is going to do about them? There's no way Japan can administer the islands alone as it was the case before, with or without the US helps. China has all the time in the world and the longer she waits the better.

.
I have to laugh at the OP using Japanese sources to post such claims. Does anyone expecting them to show maps that prove China's sovereignty?
If China played its victimness right, yea sure.

Korea has stockpiled a pile of Japanese maps and foreign ministry documents dated prior to 1905 listing the Liancourt Rocks as Koreans, thanks to the help of Japan's leftwingers and college history professors.

But don't expect those people to help out China.
